Semi related but just an FYI: archive.is does the same but it attacks some random blog that did a deep dive into the site. That "captcha" screen is throwing loads of requests from your browser

(See further down the history section here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archive.today)

Dude, WHAT

Does anyone know any alternatives that are good for getting past paywalls?

naught101@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 32d (3 replies)

archive.today and archive.is are two separate services, run by different people, are they not? The Wikipedia page just says that archive.today was mirroring archive.is's contents.

Edit: guess I misread something, sorry

I think they're the same either that or I'm misunderstanding the wiki article

They are the same, yeah. They just migrate between domains as they get shut down or whatever

archive.today (also known as archive.is, among other domains)

If I hosted that blog I would have sued by now.

I finally remembered to install noscript because of them.

Ublock with advanced settings also works

I was in the block list by name. Fuck that guy, lol

I was in there as a regex in case I have alts with the same username on other instances

Also fuck that guy, lol. Who blocks a GSV?

village604@adultswim.fan · 3 pts · 32d
