It's a corpo novel series written by a collective hired by HarperCollins. They're owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, but I haven't heard anything problematic with the series.
And there is a dark secret regarding our color coded and computer led society, but I, your lovable oafish guide to this world, couldn't possibly know what that is.
Aside from that, the series is surprisingly good. Its a far cry from most dystopia I've read thus far, a much more realistic depiction of revolution imo.
