The propaganda riddled mind... "he's only going for the criminals my brother isn't a criminal why was he grabbed off the street like he was?!... yes i voted for Donald Trump... who is the one doing this"...

And still unable to make the connection. He voted for racism. Trump told him he was going to do this. What did he think "MASS DEPORTATION NOW" meant when he saw those signs at his rallies? Sounds like he thought they were "the good ones". Clearly he's not familiar with conservative nuance.

He is having the day he voted for. Maybe now that he has touched the hot stove he can consider that the lies he has been hearing about other peoples of color might be more similar to his brothers situation than "they are all criminals except for my brother." I won't hold my breath though.

Even his comments here show an irredeemable nature as I'm sure his idea of "criminals" follows the same conservative "unless they are in my in group any person of color is likely a criminal" bullshit that they just love to apply to the world. Like a reverse benefit of the doubt.

He can't wait to call ICE on others but is surprised others see him and his brother as criminals through the same criminal lens. I feel no pity for this man, and only pity for the brother if he didn't support this shit. Otherwise he's just enjoying the fruits of his political endeavors and I definitely prefer when those consequences also fall on those who are not victimless themselves.

MAGAts are so fucking hopeless. Had a relative the other day saying they 'heard' pritzker was gonna tax camp fires.

I asked them if they knew what bill it was part of, or what was actually going to be taxed, because you know, you can't realistically fucking tax a camp fire. You could add tax to wood... But then you can just put a hotdog in a stick and suddenly it's a cooking fire, not a camp fire. I outright said, "that sounds a lot like MAGAt trash'

So after more questioning i finally asked if they learned it from a Facebook picture with text on it. Ding ding ding!

Yes. They literally believe any stupid shit you post as long as it makes them angry. There was a bill proposed (HB 4459) with vague wording about a campfire tax. Pritzker didn't propose it, and the bill got voted down earlier this year.

And yet MAGAt trash is still out there lying their ass off about it because they don't have any actual policies or platform.

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 29d

They've been conditioned to get dopamine from outrage over decades of right wing propaganda. That's why they want to be angry and jump at any flimsy excuse to do so. It no longer has to even be believable. If they weren't such pieces of shit, I would pity them for being reduced to anger zombies.

You can’t fix this level of stupid

Frankly the guy sounded very simple and unable to put together the consequences for his actions. He also is convinced it's actual criminals and Trump has a list of the criminals to collect. Some Trump voters are just plain gullible.

Dultas@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 29d

My uncle is the same way. Thinks all they're doing is rounding up the criminals. He has literally said that hard working immigrants should be allowed to stay. But Fox News isn't showing that so he doesn't see it.

blah3166@piefed.social · 3 pts · 28d

Some Trump voters are just plain gullible.

All Trump voters are gullible.

I'm not the smartest person in the world and I could smell Don's Con's (or was it his shat-in diapers) from miles away. A simple search would have brought up tons of allegations against him prior to any attempts to run for president and allowed you to build a character profile within 10 seconds. Every single trump supporter is a moron of the highest caliber and I stand by that. Fuck each and every single one of those dumbasses.

aramis87@fedia.io · 2 pts · 27d

They do have lists of criminals. The thing is that the easy-to-find criminals were already deported.

What they have now are quotas - aggressive quotas. And when you're filling an aggressive quota, you go for easy marks.

Fredselfish@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 29d

Well see conservatives feel anyone here illegally is breaking the law (ie a criminal) he just didn't understand that.

But missing the racism well that just reminds me of a black man I once knew who hated black people and was full on racists against his own people. He literally argued how the Civil War was about states rights not slavery.

I still cannot fathom how people are this stupid

InvalidName2@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 29d (2 replies)

I can't explain it for the man in this video, I don't know his story, and truthfully I don't know a single latino person who would admit to having voted for Trump in any election for any reason.

In a more general sense, though, it's often pretty straightforward. Modern misinformation / disinformation campaigns along with right-wing media control and dark money have been powerful tools in getting convenient lies delivered directly to swayable voters who otherwise aren't politically savvy.

In the mean time, a lot of left aligned people have traditionally been of the mind that their political views are what's best for the people of this country, so of course that means most people are going to vote for it because it's what's best for themselves. Instead of getting out on the streets, talking to strangers about politics, putting their money where their mouth is, they just assumed that good ideas themselves would do the heavy lifting.

Unfortunately, it's been shown time and time again that good ideas and good intentions alone don't sway or motivate unaffiliated / undecided voters.

So, when the dude in this video is seeing ads on TV/online/etc in his native language promising him that Trump will keep him safe, convincing him he's in danger otherwise, and nobody on the left takes the time to really counter that message in a way that will actually reach him, then it's really just a numbers game at that point, where he's more likely just to believe the convenient lies he's seeing/hearing -- whether or not he's stupid.

the DNC still lives in TV and radio - two dead mediums. It's been over a decade now and they still can't get their communication shit together. It's really fucking simple. Any one of us here could run that org and deliver results better than they are.

Remember when Kamala was first out of the gate and her team was killing it on social media? It lasted about two weeks? Then the old Bidens got there and started huffing about how it wasn't presidential or some shit. I dunno.

hanrahan@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 3d

and nobody on the left takes the time to really counter that message in a way that will actually reach him,

i agree, the greatest fault the left has is the assumption people aren't easily swayed by grifters and the fraudulent and that some degree of rationality will prevail.

The problem is there are a lot of stupid people and stupid people are inevitability conservative (not all conservatives are stupid but nearly all stupid people are conservative) and you need to use egregious lies and malfeasance to reach them. As Fox News has said in court they're not News, they're entertainment and no average person could make the mistake of thinking they're News and yet here we are.

Voting for criminals to get rid of criminals is was and will always be the most brainless stupidity, and even if those voters have regrets they'll always be the most brainlessly stupid.

Dumb motherfucker.

altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 29d (2 replies)

I understand that this person is overwhelmed with emotions, and he may say that by mistake, but why anyone would call ICE specifically? They aren't even cops. They are border guards inveneted in early 00s who shouldn't have any business in fighting crime at all.

MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com · 5 pts · 29d (1 reply)

I think there's an unstated presumption that the person committing the crime in question is here illegally. Basically, a lot of these people believed that Trump was going to be focusing on the "worst of the worst". I think he's trying to make clear that he supports getting people out of the country if they've committed crimes he personally thinks are serious. He still likes the idea of removing people from their communities, he just wants to be able to pick and choose who is affected.

Also, to be clear, his brother committed at least three crimes just from what he says in this short clip. You have to be a special kind of stupid to vote for mass deportations now knowing you have immediate family here that could be affected.
