100%

You do not have a functioning democracy when the vast majority of the population is unable to articulate their needs.

I should really become a Green party member.

This is the way

Oooh I might have to go to one of the propaganda factories to see how they're reporting on this one

UK people, there is a petition!

This is great except for

all media in the UK to be members of a statutory regulator

So the regulator gets to decide which organisations get freedom of speech? That sounds ripe for abuse.

It would be better just to regulate publishing and give OFCOM the teeth to do something about publishers who break the law. There's no need to restrict media to a whitelist of approved publishers.

Ask for the arm, get the hand. Don't knock it because you don't like one single thing

I kind of lost faith in these petitions. Parliament gets one of these signed by a landslide and says "we ain't about that" 99.9 times out of 100.

I absolutely agree. Though, there’s still value in having good, irrefutable data that the government didn’t listen.

The trojan horse was a beautifully carved and impressively large wooden structure, but I wasn't a fan of the army hidden inside. More fool me.

I wanted perfect and got good, so I said "no" and got terrible instead. At least I didn't give up my principles.

I wanted a trojan horse without an army inside so I said "no" and instead I got no gifts at all. At least I didn't give up my principles.

Completely agree. There's lots of things we haven't tried yet. Centralizing control is always the first idea and never in the best interests of the public.
