Good find! That makes sense, it looked too well made to be a commercial novelty christmas decoration. The sculpture section of that site has a ton of other tree toppers too. This is probably the coolest personal website I've seen in ages.
I kinda like that people that decided to bring home the gigantic skeleton man end up leaving it up all year as they have no way to store it. Home Depot is once again the enemy of good.
House a few street from me has one up all year, it is decorated for many holidays and observances. Santa Hat, valentines heart, st Patrick's hat and leprechaun beard, Bunny ears...
Well, some people dress them up for different holidays (a green outfit for St Patrick's Day, a Santa Hat for Xmas, etc), but I get what you mean. Maybe they are just going for realism! It isn't like skeletons, regardless of size, tend to get up and move around.
Did I miss the reason behind these things? I got a neighbor a block away who has it up all year round and dresses it up for evey holiday and season. Never comes down. I just started seeing a few others in town recently and kind of wondered if I missed the memo about why this is a thing now. I dont hate them, but I also never want one either.
Between this and the dressed up porch goose statue thing, folks have lost a bit of individualism in the capitalist hellscape in which we find ourselves. Better than Minions, I guess.
Yeah, it's the same reason they overlay a hawk scream over the bald eagle whenever they play a sound effect. I can only imagine chodes trying to look cool with an actual bald eagle sound, it would be hilarious to watch them try to aura farm with Tweety bird chirping behind them

Some unnamed artisan in the Chinese city that handles manufacturing of random holiday decorations really nailed the zeitgeist.

The giggling in the meeting where it was signed off must have been incessant.

Nobody needs a 50’ skeleton from Home Depot, but…
ch00f@lemmy.world · 33 pts · 15d
Home Depot now sells what they're calling the world's largest plastic tote.
The sign specifically calls out that it fits a giant skelly man.
Edit: Found the pic!

The seasonal skelly is awesome though.
365 plain skelly though is depressing.

It’s sort of a joke I guess.
Like you buy a 50’ skeleton to what? Use it once a year? Screw that, throw some decorations on it and get your money’s worth year round.
Kinda what people are doing
Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 14d
Also; where tf do you store a 50' skeleton the rest of the year... I don't have space for that, it can stay on the lawn.
ZeroCool@piefed.ca · 7 pts · 14d
A 51’ coffin, obviously.

Do they believe it makes the US look tough or something?
