Some unnamed artisan in the Chinese city that handles manufacturing of random holiday decorations really nailed the zeitgeist.

Almacca@aussie.zone · 18 pts · 14d

The giggling in the meeting where it was signed off must have been incessant.

They've been doing it for decades.

Nobody needs this

cannedtuna@lemmy.world · 45 pts · 15d (26 replies)

Nobody needs a 50’ skeleton from Home Depot, but…

ch00f@lemmy.world · 33 pts · 15d (17 replies)

Home Depot now sells what they're calling the world's largest plastic tote.

The sign specifically calls out that it fits a giant skelly man.

Edit: Found the pic!

I hate how much I want to buy that tree topper.

Good find! That makes sense, it looked too well made to be a commercial novelty christmas decoration. The sculpture section of that site has a ton of other tree toppers too. This is probably the coolest personal website I've seen in ages.

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 14d

Thank you for finding that! I had it saved on my phone for ages and forgot where it came from, really appreciate it :)

Ok, done. What's next?

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 15d (7 replies)

I kinda like that people that decided to bring home the gigantic skeleton man end up leaving it up all year as they have no way to store it. Home Depot is once again the enemy of good.

Vandals_handle@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 14d (2 replies)

House a few street from me has one up all year, it is decorated for many holidays and observances. Santa Hat, valentines heart, st Patrick's hat and leprechaun beard, Bunny ears...

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 14d (1 reply)

I am starting to suspect you're my neighbor lol

Vandals_handle@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 14d

All neighbors down here 🤡

tanisnikana@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 14d

Yeah, giant skeletons is one of the things that makes life worth living.

halcyoncmdr@piefed.social · 4 pts · 14d (2 replies)

The seasonal skelly is awesome though.

365 plain skelly though is depressing.

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 14d (1 reply)

Well, some people dress them up for different holidays (a green outfit for St Patrick's Day, a Santa Hat for Xmas, etc), but I get what you mean. Maybe they are just going for realism! It isn't like skeletons, regardless of size, tend to get up and move around.

Don't Blink Two - Skeltons Boogaloo

HeyJoe@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 15d (7 replies)

Did I miss the reason behind these things? I got a neighbor a block away who has it up all year round and dresses it up for evey holiday and season. Never comes down. I just started seeing a few others in town recently and kind of wondered if I missed the memo about why this is a thing now. I dont hate them, but I also never want one either.

cannedtuna@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 15d (3 replies)

It’s sort of a joke I guess.

Like you buy a 50’ skeleton to what? Use it once a year? Screw that, throw some decorations on it and get your money’s worth year round.

Kinda what people are doing

Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 14d (2 replies)

Also; where tf do you store a 50' skeleton the rest of the year... I don't have space for that, it can stay on the lawn.

ZeroCool@piefed.ca · 7 pts · 14d (1 reply)

A 51’ coffin, obviously.

Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 14d

Between this and the dressed up porch goose statue thing, folks have lost a bit of individualism in the capitalist hellscape in which we find ourselves. Better than Minions, I guess.

Good name for the gilded monstrosity that Trump wants to build

apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 14d

Now I've had the sad realization that they will probably sell minature versions of Trump's arch for people's front yards like this.

Why do they always make those eagles look angry?

Do they believe it makes the US look tough or something?

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 14d

It reminds me of how Kirby is drawn differently due to audience preferences.

Passerby6497@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 14d

Yeah, it's the same reason they overlay a hawk scream over the bald eagle whenever they play a sound effect. I can only imagine chodes trying to look cool with an actual bald eagle sound, it would be hilarious to watch them try to aura farm with Tweety bird chirping behind them

Almacca@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 14d

See also: Trump's mugshot. So cringey.

Nah, bald eagles do kinda' have an RBF.

Advertising your mental illness to the neighborhood is certainly something to also advertise to your social network

Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 14d

I mean, being the crazy guy that never leaves your house is no fun. Gotta share all your madness with the neighbourhood. Spread the love XD

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 14d (1 reply)

This might be a wee bit judgemental and stem from your own mental hangups instead of anything to do with the OP or source of the image.

HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 14d

Na, just that you are mentally ill if you’re proud of America

huppakee@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 15d

Ngl, never saw USA merch that looked this good.

Let's see a.i. come up with something like that.

You don't think AI was the one that designed that?
