Harry Potter star Jessie Cave reveals she earned more from one year of OnlyFans than ‘entire acting career’

Actor and comedian Jessie Cave says she has made more money from one year of sharing hairbrushing videos on OnlyFans than she has done throughout her “entire acting career”.

The performer, 39, who is best known for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, started to post videos showing herself brushing her long hair on the social media platform last year, after dealing with rejection in the entertainment industry and struggling financially.

Cave was clear from the start that her account would not be “a sexual one” and would instead focus on “sensual” videos of her hair.

Speaking to The Times, Cave, who shares four children with comedian fiance Alfie Brown, said that she had reached “a point of complete desperation” after being rejected from an audition.

“I couldn’t go and, say, work in a supermarket because I can’t afford the childcare, and also I don’t want people shouting Harry Potter spells at me as I work at Tesco,” she told the paper.

“I could retrain but I can’t afford to do a degree. I had a breakdown and I thought, that’s it with acting, I give up. But also we have no money. It was a point of complete desperation.”

The sub-plot hidden here is that an adult can't go work because the child care needed to allow her to go to work cost more than the job earns. But can't NOT go to work because she needs money.

If you pick a career in your teens and it doesn't work out by the time you are in your 30's then you are fucked.

Meanwhile the media is complaining that "Kids these days" are not getting themselves trapped in these spirals by having kids or being loyal to the companies exploiting them.

Best known for her role as Lavender Brown

Is she though?

It doesn't say "well known", it says "best known". Is there some other movie that she is more well known for?

Rooster326@programming.dev · 9 pts · 24d (4 replies)

But if she's making a million sensually fucking a hairbrush.

Isn't that what she's best known for?

blargh513@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 24d (3 replies)

I'd be happy to be known for that.

Anyone want to see a chubby older brown guy brush his hair SENSUALLY?

No? Fuck, back to the office again.

Tell me more about your hair.

Crozekiel@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 24d (5 replies)

I don't even know who Lavender Brown is.

Rooster326@programming.dev · 11 pts · 24d (3 replies)

Despite reading the books and watching the movies a few time, I had to look it up. It's Ron's first girlfriend. She did a good job of playing the villain.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 24d (2 replies)

Wasn't she one of the many girls that tried to essentially poison both Ron and Harry with love potion infused food? Or am I confusing her with some other girl Ron got infatuated with through magical means?

tazeycrazy@feddit.uk · 7 pts · 24d (1 reply)

No your thinking of Romilda Vane. She wanted harry but Ron got his chocolates before him. Ron then was poisoned by Draco who was trying to get dumbldoor. Ron was just catching strays.

Ahhh, right. I haven't read or watched them in almost a couple decades at this point

"Won-won!"

Ironic that (if she does the traditional thing) she's going to have the same last name as her character.

Brown?

with comedian fiance Alfie Brown

If she takes the last name of the husband at some point, then yes, they're correct.

velma@sh.itjust.works · 19 pts · 24d (4 replies)

I couldn’t tell if they were referring to the “traditional thing” of performing sex acts on OF or marrying her fiancé tbh.

grue@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 24d (2 replies)

The second one! WTF!

velma@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 24d (1 reply)

Ah come on, we’re on Lemmy haha. It could’ve gone either way.

grue@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 24d

Sigh... I knew I should've quoted the parts I was talking about...

I used to be all about the books as a kid and I don't remotely remember the character. I'm glad the actor is doing okay through an alternate funding stream though, she seems nice from a brief read of her socials.

Alexstarfire@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 24d

She's the girl Ron dates before Hermione. She's a pretty minor character. There's not much to remember.

cheat700000007@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 24d

And how much would she have made with OF if she wasn't in HP?

QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 24d (3 replies)

I'd start an only fans, but there's no way I'm attractive enough.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 24d (2 replies)

people have done it with masks, or not show thier face

AnyOldName3@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 24d (1 reply)

If you're only showing a subset of your body, then that subset has to be especially attractive

I'm a hand model, mama. A finger jockey. We think differently than the face and body boys... we're a different breed.
