Text in images is mostly a solved problem with frontier models. At least regarding consistency. Most of the time it's still obvious and looks strange in natural-looking "photos".

It could be both, an ai "edit" of some image pulled from the interweb with text added manually. But it could also be a genuine drawing that was pulled from from the interweb as it is now and the text put over it after. I dont think the text would be it's biggest challenge, it would more likely struggle with accurately putting the mountains, rivers and borders in the right place without some user provided reference pic. But i can't imagine the map was drawn for this specific meme.
First, the scribble coloring is too neat. Way too uniform all over and the scribbles at the borders are unnaturally even and straight.
The "handwritten" labels are clearly a font, but before someone says "well then someone added the font afterwards" look at the edges around the text, especially on labels over the ocean and on the mountain range. The scribbles lighten and almost go around the text like it was there already. The font style itself is also overused by AI in cartoons and comics that it craps out.
Then there's the international border that goes down Lake Huron & Erie but stops after that.
Also, why is there one blue and one green island off the coast of Florida?
And, of course, Lake Erie and Ontario are switched around.
Also the west rivers don't go to the ocean, the rivers are weirdly too blue, the north west river turned the coast outline up to canada more blue, and the tip of california islands have two blue dots on their east ends.
Even just a ten second scribble on a napkin would have been so much better than this crap. It would have also fit better to the quality that comes out of the White House nowadays.
Considering Trump himself floated the idea of naming one of the oceans America there aren't a lot of ideas to give. There's really only Planet America, American solar system, American Galaxy and the universe of America.
I knew they had to put gold glitter stencils around the White House with the name of the wing the entrance covers in big easy to read letters above the awnings to account for the stable genius' dementia driven severe cognitive decline but why the maps?
They already have their own football and their own "measurements", can't we just give them their own dictionary for the world? You just put Lake Ontario or the Gulf of Mexico in a translator app and you see how the Americans call it. I mean it's not ideal but aren't there more important things to worry about than how they call stuff?
