To be fair, from all nationalities, Americans would make a good source of raw material for soap making. (It's a fat joke for the people that don't know the chemistry)

Soapmaker from way back here. A lot of the old saponification charts used to include values for human fat. Maybe as a nod to Fight Club

Remember kids: Posessing or processing human flesh is not actually illegal, it is only the methods of obtaining it that is usually illegal.

Don't we all possess human flesh? I mean except for the undercover ChatGPT bots

"made with American jobs" sounds awfully a lot like "not really made in America but guy named Jobs was involved" 🤣

humorlessrepost@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Sounds like “made with real fruit juice” to me. Like they can’t legally say made in the America, but if one American job was involved, this claim is accurate.

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 4d

Could be also referring "America" as the continent, rather than US

im_fine_sandy@nord.pub · 4 pts · 4d

Guaranteed, the soap is made somewhere in Asia, the bottles are made in mexico, admin accounting and marketing is in south america or south east asia, but there's a shed somewhere in the US with a machine that pours soap into bottles and screws the top on.

Or “Made with 100% Real beef.” It’s not 100% real beef. But a percentage of it is. Perhaps even 0.001%. But then it doesn’t look great to have “Made of 0.001% real beef.”

In theory there could be two Americans involved in the production of the entire product, one who signed off on a single order for materials for this, and one who wrote the sentence “Made with American jobs.” And 200,000 foreign workers involved, and that sentence would still hold true

Tey're goin' to burry american jobs in a soap can

oscarmeyer82@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 4d (1 reply)

What deliberately two faced language this is. The executive sitting in US contributing nothing to the creation of this product technically fulfills the statement that it's made with American jobs.

I wouldn't put it past these companies to put this type of marketing on products 100% from Mexico or any other North or South American country. Gross manipulation of technical correctness.

We're selling our labor to employers at $20 an hour. Lord knows what they charge. It's heinous. They're selling our own fat asses back to us.
