Well, the water enters the gills via the mouth...so obviously it would smoke using it's mouth to inhale and gills to exhale smoke, making option 1 the only answer.

How could a fish smoke underwater?

y0kai@anarchist.nexus · 29 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Perhaps his existential crisis is a real "fish out of water" moment

That just raises more questions!

jobbies@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 3d

Obviously it leaves the water for a cigarette break. Have you never seen fish smoking on the river bank?

huppakee@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3d (3 replies)

If you understood how badly Big Tabacco wants to get rich, you would not ask that question.

eurodyne@piefed.world · 6 pts · 3d (2 replies)

I’ve been a smoker since 1993.

I just wanna know how to smoke underwater

huppakee@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3d

They don't care how long you've been smoking, I guess it has more to do with how much money you have. Maybe they figured out they can't suck you any more dry then you already are. Or they dont think you would spend enough to justify the R&D. Because i am quite sure, if people would not spend money for abovewater cigs but would for underwater cigs, they would find a way to make money from that.

With oxygenated fuel in the cigarettes. Wrap a storm matchstick in it.

I mean, do you put your cigarettes on your mouth or in your nostrils?

dingus@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2d

Yes

The cool way

ViatorOmnium@piefed.social · 6 pts · 3d (1 reply)

Do you smoke through your nose?

If I remember correctly, fishes actually "breath" water through their mouth, and then pump it through their gills to extract the oxygen.

Jerb322@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d

Not really the same thing...

MarcomachtKuchen@feddit.org · 4 pts · 3d

Definitely 1 cause the carp strikes me as a fish that wants to look cool.

johntwinkletits@fedinsfw.app · 3 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Why do people think gills are the nose?

Etterra@discuss.online · 1 pts · 2d

It's the closest analogy that makes sense at a glance. It's clearly not the mouth, and since we mammals only have one other air vent, that just leaves the nose. However in actuality they have non-breathing scent detectors that are totally separate from three breathing system. It's like if your nose could smell but not be breathed through; instead you breathed in through your mouth and had slits on your throat used to exhale.
