Wasn't another passenger Duct taped to their seat about a year ago? Or did I have a really vivid dream about the future ..

EDIT. It seems to have happened a few times. American Airlines in particular seem to like it.

It happens somewhat regularly.

I just wonder who's bringing all this duct tape in their carry on

Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2d

They keep it on the plane just in case.

Frozengyro@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

It's pretty standard equipment on planes I'm assuming, lots of uses for it.

I feel like I could bust out of that much duct tape. Madness is wasted on the old.

I fucking did when I was like 15.

Some bullies thought it would be a fun "prank" to duct tape me to a support pillar. But they did a pretty shit job of it and I was able to shrug it off without too much effort. They looked very sad about that.

yakko@feddit.uk · 13 pts · 3d (2 replies)

Shitty. But, anything that makes a bully sad can't be all bad.

I had a bully and I never did get to put them in their place myself, but I at least got to watch them crash and burn in the end.

It's such a good feeling. I snapped when mine was beating me with a branch, and it took 3 people to drag me off him.

He never bothered me again, but I did have to go to therapy.

yakko@feddit.uk · 0 pts · 3d

Fuck, free therapy. Mine was on the boxing team though, it's probably lucky I didn't snap.

Hardeehar@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3d (5 replies)

Tape job wasn't that great because I think a few passengers basically had to sit on him to restrain him during landing. He was trying to get up to hit people.

yakko@feddit.uk · 10 pts · 3d (2 replies)

If I'm one of those passengers having to pull a Nurse Ratchet on some mad bastard, I better be getting free drinks for the rest of that flight.

Small price to pay for keeping the peace!

Hostess better have my fourth negroni or I'm siding with the prisoner.

Crozekiel@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Where did you find that? This article is quite lacking in details and makes it sound like all he did was verbal harassment.

Hardeehar@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2d

I read one a few days ago, there's def a picture of the guy being sat on.

finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 3d (1 reply)

If their faces weren't blurred, and people could see what an utter berk they looked like adhered to the seat, less people might indulge in such behaviour.

unabart@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 2d

Utter berk indeed!

Crozekiel@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 2d

So wait, what did the guy do? Reading the article linked it basically sounds like "some guy was verbally being a dick, so a former cop and his friend decided to jump the guy and tape him up." The pictures show him bruised and bleeding and he looks out cold.

There is a version of this that has music in the background and is 10x better, but I don't have the time to find it rn.

TimboSlice@discuss.online · 1 pts · 3d

It's pretty funny as is

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 3d

Surely there was a better way of doing this...

Have fun on Greyhound or using a boat to get across the pond.

moldy_rice@piefed.keyboardvagabond.com · 1 pts · 2d

We really need to ban planes so we have better passenger ship options again

coralof@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3d (3 replies)

My first thought was who's bringing duck tape in their carry-on? Or is it something that the flight attendants had just in case there were some unruly individuals? 😂

AAA@feddit.org · 12 pts · 2d (2 replies)

I didn't read this article because I read it somewhere else the other day. It said zip-ties and duct tape are common equipment on passenger flights for exactly this purpose (restraining someone).

0x0@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Theyre also load bearing components for when the mechanics fix the plane

TachyonTele_Esq@piefed.social · 2 pts · 2d

"Careful. That's a load bearing poster on the wall."

Guy's having a mental health crisis...should get medical care not arrested.
