For all the years it has existed, all the money spent on immigration and deportation why hasn't the US come up with a better system? And become an isolated country for a while to help itself?
Becoming isolated has literally never helped the US.
As for why hasn’t the immigration system been fixed. Here’s the problem: everyone that goes to Congress has a different idea of how to fix it. And everyone thinks their idea is best. And no one wants to work together and hell no to working with the other side.
Imma be real though homie, the two sides are not the same in their beliefs of how to handle it and thats where the problems arise. One side wants people to legally immograte, and are for changing the system to avoid as much backlog and frankly, bullshit in order to legally immigrate now. The other side wants them to illegally immigrate so they can deport them to prisons in worse countries (potentially making a buck off it too) and hunt them down using a privatised militia cosplaying as government agents (because them you have a privatised militia willing to take orders from just your side, and that leads to total authoritarian control). So its not like a "we just dont like the other side and thats why we refuse to work with them", its more that the other side is kinda fucking evil, and working with them just means that evil gets to spill out all over the place.
One side wants people to legally immograte, and are for changing the system to avoid as much backlog and frankly, bullshit in order to legally immigrate now.
What side is that exactly? Definitely not a side that has any representation in Congress. Despite all the virtue signaling from Democrats, they're more than happy to keep things the way they are, take advantage of undocumented workers for cheap labor in their businesses, and deport the rest. Obama held the record for deportations up until recently. Jack shit has been done to streamline the process which can take 20+ years despite these people living and working here all that time.
In centuries past, people would migrate up here seasonally to work the farms before going back home for the rest of the year. It wasn't until our bullshit immigration laws came about that those migrant workers would stay all year because it became too difficult to cross the border with all the roadblocks that were put in place.
Why would the US become an isolated country? In all of history, the only time America hasn't wanted to be a global power is when there's responsibilities attached to that role, or the consequences of their own actions come back to haunt them. They literally kicked down Japan's door when they tried to isolate and demanded their people be let in. They blew up Haiti, repeatedly, for declaring independence, they wiped democratic governments out of Guatemala, Panama and El Salvador, they've routinely disrupted South American countries, and when people come knocking looking for work after you burn down their house NOW you want isolation?
America is like those deadbeats that want to play house, beat their wives and have a dozen kids, only to find out being a husband and father is work and then dip. Or worse, the serial rapist with a breeding kink. Your president is about to invade the rest of the continent brother, there aren't going to BE any borders anymore.

And because you have to have a populace that live in fear if you want them to be slaves

And is also profitable. Remember, slavery is still legal in the US if you're convicted of a crime.

Tell me you are anti-immigrant without telling me you are anti-immigrant
