My interpretation is that McCarthy was saying, yeah, this will happen, this has happened, and here's your happy ending so you don't slit your wrists after reading this.

During this time, the brain is not capable of functioning at anything near its normal capacity. Extensive and irreversible brain damage may occur through cell death if oxygen levels are not restored quickly enough after this period.
If a person suddenly stops breathing there is still oxygen in their blood that their brain can utilize. However with strong g-forces the blood can be displaced out of the brain entirely. Think about where the feet will be on the coaster and where the blood would be pushed to.
Presumably they would be clinically dead at the end of the ride, that is they would have stopped breathing and their heart would have stopped beating. It may still be possible to revive someone with prompt medical attention, but for the job to be finished all you'd have to do at that point is nothing.
Why would it not be easier to just seal off a room, and cycle the oxygen out until it's pure nitrogen gas. The people would pass out quickly, experience no real physical pain and just leave them in their for 30 minutes (well more than needed)
If there was an assisted suicide way to go, id basically just ask for the mask at the orthodontist then ease off into never worrying again.

Sure but it gets taped down and such when your under and you are not worried about air getting in as much as so much aneshteia getting out that it will be to low a dosage. With nitrogen you don't want oxygen extending out your awareness or triggers from soemthing like co2. You more worried about it getting in. I mean if you had to but I think the coffin/pod thing is a good compromise of comfort and being able to feel ate ease along with assurance on function.

My father used to teach aeronautical physiology when he was in the Air Force and then for FAA when he retired from the military. He operated the centrifuge at Holloman AFB for 5 years when we were stationed in New Mexico. Sustained 10g won't be fun, and you will probably G-loc and shit your pants, but it wouldn't kill the average person unless they were negative gs, and that isnt happening from hypoxia, nor isn't a pleasant or fun way to go.
I can hardly think of worse ways to die, having all the time in the world to think it through on the way up listening to the "click-clack-click-clack" of the train on the rails, and then going over the falls... Maybe drowning and burning but that's about what I can come up with.

You sounded so serious. It's an art installation! Purpose is to make us think about death sentences, and what a humane one would look like. The ones we employ in the USA are very painful, often go wrong, and require actual federal crime to perform in the case of lethal injections as in the Dream Pharma debacle to source the poison going against federal regulations.
It speaks to the absurdity of the death penalty, and how if would really mean to be "humane" in state sponsored killings, this is a cheap, safe, 100% reliable, and fun way to die. So why not prefer this over injections, or hangings, or firing squads?
Anyway that's what I got from it at least.
Edit: personally I think carbon monoxide is the answer. It's free, simple, painless, and very effective.

You sounded so serious. It's an art installation! Purpose is to make us think about death sentences, and what a humane one would look like. The ones we employ in the USA are very painful, often go wrong, and require actual federal crime to perform in the case of lethal injections as in the Dream Pharma debacle to source the poison going against federal regulations.
It speaks to the absurdity of the death penalty, and how if would really mean to be "humane" in state sponsored killings, this is a cheap, safe, 100% reliable, and fun way to die. So why not prefer this over injections, or hangings, or firing squads?
Anyway that's what I got from it at least.
Edit: personally I think carbon monoxide is the answer. It's free, simple, painless, and very effective.
