The unknown artist who gets this gig and then says "Free Palestine" at the first show will

  • get more gigs
  • be able to look themselves in the mirror afterward
garbagebagel@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1d

I so need the winner to do this now it would just be too perfect

wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 43 pts · 1d

Seems poetically apt, actually. who knew this timeline had a sense of humor.

Almacca@aussie.zone · 40 pts · 1d

Some unknown muso has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.

Someone should add a sticker "C'mon, we're desperate"

boobookittyfrick@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 17h

I hope this poster was put up after the dissolution

CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 18 pts · 1d

Or perfectly timed? Didn't he lose every other act on his tour?

jimerson@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 1d (1 reply)

I love Guitar Center.

I get to try out many different guitars before purchasing one at a local mom and pop shop.

lemming741@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1d

Ah yes, the best buy of music

Vinny_93@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 1d (3 replies)

This is deliberate of course. Lots of people out there who want to make it big with their music and there will be musicians in there that are actually really good but never really got a chance. Either they're not gonna care about the political statement over this huge chance or they are interested in making a different statement in the first place.

You gotta wonder if those concert halls are going to be full though. And I also wonder what it'll do to the musical quality of the tour.

realitista@lemmus.org · 12 pts · 1d (2 replies)

I mean the right way to play this is blindingly obvious. Go up there, do your set, and then yell Free Palestine afterwards.

Vinny_93@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Would be a no-brainer but I think you'll have to sign something stating you won't

realitista@lemmus.org · 5 pts · 1d

Yeah but following your contract isn't very rock in roll, now, is it?

TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id · 12 pts · 1d

Runner up prize is opening for Ed Sheeran twice.

huppakee@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 1d

So there wasn't anyone who wanted to play at his show?

Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 1d (7 replies)

I still have no clue what kind of music Ed Sheeran makes.

Evotech@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1d (4 replies)
sibannac@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

I feel like I have caller ID now but with links.

Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1d

Got me

derry@midwest.social · 2 pts · 23h

Yes! It's still a thing after all the years

Manalith@midwest.social · 1 pts · 23h

How dare you equate those two

garbagebagel@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

Boring generic pop

RagingRobot@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d

Crappy

FluidBeef@quokk.au · 7 pts · 1d

Now you have to open for the entire tour.

realitista@lemmus.org · 6 pts · 1d

Bad timing for you, good timing for Ed.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 1d

I'm certain ticket sales have gone through the roof just so that people can pay for the opportunity to boo him live

antianarchist@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Bad timing? Were they living under a rock? It is not hard to stop the beginning of a campaign.

Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1d

This campaign came out of everyone quiting lol. Guitar Center wanted this heat lol

derry@midwest.social · 3 pts · 23h (1 reply)

I heard he found an opening act already Ed Sheeran finds opening act

jaschen306@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 11h

That website is cancer for mobile.

Sunnshine@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1d

Wow…

fodor@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 16h (1 reply)

Ed sure fucked himself... I'd blame his PR rep, but this was such a predictable fuckup that the better explanation is that Ed has really shitty values.

jaschen306@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 11h

His PR team probably quit in solidarity along with the band and the opening acts.
