That's where the "According to what churchgoers are told, at least." part comes in. They don't care, which is why Christians ignore that one despite it being right there in the Bible. Historically, it was probably because shellfish didn't store well in the desert and was likely to make you sick.

I'll make it simple for you: essentially every major conflict man has ever experienced has been the result of one group deciding that their sky genie is better than another group's, so that means it's alright to kill them. Even the ones that preach love and acceptance put a giant fucking asterisk on it. Buddhism is the only real exception, and that's because it's not even a religion in the same way the others are.
Christians? Ongoing conflicts in the middle east, with the dumbest and most evil amongst them calling it a "holy war".
Catholics? A history of pedophilia, rape and murder stretching from the crusades all the way up until now.
Muslims? Same shit different name.
And yes, it's obviously not all INSERT RELIGIOUS GROUP HERE, but that doesn't change the fact that hatred and othering of those who don't agree is a core tenet of all major religions.

You literally said the lust for gold was a reason for the conquistadors. I think Catholicism was an excuse to do what they did for money.

And no, I don't think deaths via pollution are a stretch at all. People are dying in droves because of pollution, from lung disease to water and food shortages to disasters caused by climate change, a thing gasoline companies knew would happen but wanted money. How many times has a company let people die because they want money?

Just because you're mad at one type of religion doesn't mean all religions are bad, anyone with a religion is bad, and literally every evil of the world must somehow be tied to religion.

Honestly, I mostly see capitalism as a religion. It provides a narrative about the meaning of life. It provides rules that it's followers should adhere to. It provides goals, restrictions, and social orders. It defines it's own ethics, worldviews, texts, doctrines, and priorities.
