In today's democratized world there's no pressure from society to dress a certain way, so convenience wins. People wear cotton because it's easy to wash. People wear puffer jackets instead of coats because they cut off at the waist and are easier to move in.
I get the people here saying "just don't have any of them". Recently I decided to wipe my IG account's likes that I left on all posts. You know - so the algorithm knows less about me. Mind you, this was several thousand likes to remove.
There is no bulk unliking option, so I did this by hand. Select the same -teen photos, unlike, wait for the reload, repeat. The benefit is that you get a look atwhat you liked, since you're combing through it by hand.
What struck me is 99% of those posts were from people I haven't ever met. They were rando short creators. There is nothing "social" about this medium anymore. It's a media medium.
I'm not Hungarian but I was at Batthany ter from 6PM to 2AM and experiencing history by yourself is much different than seeing it on TV. There was a group of high schoolers in front of me who were hugging among eachother constantly once they knew Tisza won, broke my heart.
When I was coming back, on the shuttle bus to Warsaw Chopin a Hungarian woman was watching a recap of the election night smiling, and when a bird's eye video of the crowd appeared she was shaking her head in disbelief/pride. Yes, I was watching her phone from above - standing - while she was sitting, shut up
With those kind of rosy-eyed stories in Poland we say "and then the bus driver sat up and started clapping" and indeed I may be on an emotional high compared to people who just saw the facts on TV, though I don't even feel a fraction of some Hungarians may be feeling.
Also I couldn't join in on any of the chants but the simplest "-ria, -ria, Hungaria" lol
Same boat. Got a 1kg bag to motivate myself to eat the more and it's going rather slow. Love the nutrients in those but I wish they just tasted better.
People are also growing cotton in Italy now, so maybe one day we could have cotton that's not only spun in Europe but also grown there. Still, lyocell and flax/hemp would probably be easier.
