Sure you can have your office 97 that runs on 16MB, but then you would not be able to embed your AutoCAD drawings, load data from an XML file on the Internet or other snazziness that 99% of users don't need.

If you check the network request, office opens 10 or even more connections on startup, i guess at least one is for licence check, possibly another one for one drive. However one of the requests took more than 8 seconds to complete, and during the whole time office would just sit idle.
Let's say im 25, on my way to work flipping burgers and some drunk driver crashes into me, leaving me disabled and i can no longer walk or use my arms. Should I just die because i have not paid enough into social security, i am no longer contributing to companies and capitalism and would "take away" benefits from other people?

And how does this work out? Do companies not lobby against safety or environmental regulations if it hurts their profits? Is the water safe to drink everywhere? Is medical care available to everyone who needs it, regardless of income? Does everyone get social security, even if he could not pay in because of health issues, accidents or other reasons that prevented him from working full time for 40 years?

The difference is that the government has no shareholders or incentive to turn a profit, unlike companies. However it can sell luxury goods at a high price, to subside other goods like food or housing from the markup.

Ab einem bestimmten preispunkt wird es leute geben die sich ausrechnen das 2 jahre abo teurer sind als eine lokale hardware die einen 4-stelligen betrag kostet. Ein anderes kaufargument koennte privatsphaere sein, oder das man seinen code, finanzen oder bauplaene nicht in die US cloud schickt.
Kann mir nicht vorstellen das man bei sowas softwareseitig noch viel optimieren kann. Wennes einfach waere, haette esi sicher schon jemand gemacht...
Wieso muss die Bahn gewinne erziehlen? Die bahn sollte schnell, guenstig und zuverlaessig personen und warentransport bereitstellen damit leute nicht zwingend aufs auto angewiesen sind, LKWs von der strasse runterkommen, leute leichter auf arbeit kommen und man die teuren grundstuecke in der stadt nicht mit parkplaetzen zupflastern muss.
Keiner wuerde fragen wann die Autobahnen oder Bundeswehr endlich gewinne macht.
Ist auch nicht trivial bei Regen, Schnee, Nacht, sonne die direkt in die Kamera blendet.
