They have to start from somewhere though. They're an American company, so it makes sense they start with ASL.
Back when they haven't masked off, they still had some other branches around the world bringing features just for that corner of the world. Although I admit that that memory is possibly faulty, as I can't bring up any examples. Maybe translation?
Idk, I still think it has some merit. It can reduce a lot of troubleshooting when something not playing right. There's 1001 things that can go right and wrong with PC gaming. Reducing the hardware to near zero with a standardized rig takes a lot of headache off IMO.
Some people just want to play games from Steam without all the pc gaming hobby's baggage. They probably already have other fulfilling hobbies they learn from. What's wrong not adding another hobby to go down a rabbit hole?
I remember reading somewhere that Netflix produced shows needs to cater to "second monitor" usage, or passive watching. As in constantly repeating plot points, simpler plot, anything that makes it easy to follow something while doing anything else
AI slop is just another way they do it. Even better, no need to deal with pesky actor unions or production unions and other such annoying anticapitalist things.
Same here. The AI answer doesn't fix or solve anything for me, but it does give me enough pointers for me to refine my search or find old posts that leads to the right information.
It's too bad that the big AI services are world destroying
Edit: also most of my noob Linux questions I just don't know how to ask. Google search being the shit fest it is now, duckduckgo I feel like doesn't work as well as google when they're quietly enshittifying (I thought google search peaked at 2010s for how good it is finding me things with all the "google-fu" I learned that's for nought now). And quote frankly, I am "afraid" to ask in Linux forum sites (including here). I don't want to gamble getting some asshole Linux guy mouthing me off.
When I was shopping distros to jump ship from winslop, came across niri videos and I was smitten. Having decided to try cachyOS because 1. gaming, 2. Arch with training wheels, 3. Installer has niri option, I went for it.
I was dual booting with winslop for a week, but that one was cachy with plasma, then seeing I truly do not need winslop anymore, I wipe the whole drive and installed cachy again but this time with niri.
I use colemak as my keyboard layout, so during the dual boot period I set that as system layout during installation, but that had some problems with games. So when I wiped and reinstall, I just leave qwerty as system default. The cachy installer installed niri with noctalia as its shell
Well too bad, currently I do not have the understanding nor the inclination to learn how to configure niri and noctalia lol. Even adding colemak was too much. Tbf to myself, it was already 11 pm and I have work the coming morning. I'm glad that another reinstall and having all my needed software restored is o my 10 minutes.
Tldr, niri noctalia too hard for me now. Will revisit again when I have time to learn by trial by fire.
Although I have to say that I found a plasma plugin called mousetiler that's almost exactly like fancyzones. That was the biggest thing I was missing dearly. I don't have to remember so many keyboard shortcuts lol
As long as it works for a casual player like me, I'm fine really. But I've been procrastinating my interception teams for the specific bosses so I'll build them following prydwen
I don't remember why I stick with nikke.gg honestly. I think because they spoon feed me more lol. Truly smooth brain copy homework stuff
Also for both of that guides, their "Check here" is recursive lol
ani.social is federated, though possibly some communities are blocked or some such?
Possible that that is the case. I might have conflated it to mean the instance is blocked or defed
I thought I posted something about it but at least as a post it was for a different comm that is just a mirror bot reposting reddit posts. I could have asked in comments but I'm lazy to look for it
I've been mostly follow nikke.gg instead of prydwen. Should I flip the priority? Regardless of the latest character analysis, i need to update my tower, intercept and PvP lineup
Exponentially more rage inducing when it's a government service. Lowest bidder contractor that just throws all permissions requested by default, laggy back end that's already 10 years old 20 years ago, and the web page the app is replacing is stuck in the stone ages
And since it's a government service, (for android) they'll scan for accessibility and third party keyboard usage, or developer options turned on, and dictate how I fucking use my property. Also because the app can spy on their users more thoroughly.
I empathize with him from that blog post, but he's just refusing to accept valid opinions.
Well we just have to see how this moves forward.
I was already thinking migrating from piefed.social because they don't federate/block ani.social, and as an anime enjoyer I don't like that.
And I'll make a spicy account for more spicy comms just like how I did with reddit back then. Separation of on the streets and under the sheets, if I may. 🤣
I even recommend it to people who are adamant about not switching from their existing Lemmy accounts
indeed. that's what I do as well.
Maybe you can try to convey the controversy
I most probably will not if I'm recommending it for people new to the threadiverse. If they ask, then I may explain. Although I might forget honestly. Same with the lemmy controversy. I only remembered because you and others reminded me of it in replies of this post.
3rd-party app negates most of PieFed’s onboarding utility also, which is a further complication.
It does indeed. I recently tried a few apps again. I am still using Summit but want to see how the others handle it, but for piefed. None of them, including Summit, does onboarding as well as piefed on a web browser.
I seem to have misunderstood what you meant in your edit paragraph
Yeah, it's a tongue in cheek comment. I agree with you that if an instance stating they are disabling whatever votes upfront isn't being manipulative. It's transparent and honest, so people can make their own informed decision.
It's just that I don't remember downvoting being disabled on piefed.social because I can downvote just fine. Maybe those are all posts in comms that are not in piefed.social and I just never encountered piefed.social posts in my subscribed feed much. Can a comms mod set votes turned on or off on piefed instances?
I just am still gobsmacked that Rimu decided to put on brakes by default and opt-out function to the threadiverse growth. We are having trouble as it is getting just users, and retaining them, not to mention getting and retaining quality active posters and lurkers. The worst thing about it is that they didn't discuss it in a more public manner before the decision. What a weird opinionated action.

Oh, my bad, I misunderstood. It's been a long while since I used Vivaldi.
Actually, zen browser has by default tab side bars. They change quite a bit.
They have workspaces that can default to open certain containers that makes use of Mozilla's multi container add-on.
Have a look at zen browser @dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de
Yesssss. more sandy details need to be in beach art

1, 2, and 7 for me. Map it like a phone dialer.
But honestly, 3 was never in my mind lol. I hardly know big redditors to the point they left and went here
Why is this so hot lol

Yeah, I remember that post. That's not the post or comment I was thinking of.
Yeah, despite the current situation, I'm glad that rimu still takes time to fix bugs like that quickly.

Aww, Nox grew up to be so handsome.
Don't give them any ideas
