It's a pretty mature language so I see no reason why it can't be used for general purpose. Though I would check if they have proper libraries that fulfills whatever task you're trying to complete first. For instance, if you're doing machine learning, I would probably stick to Python.
One thing to note is that it's a functional programming language. If your previous exposure to programing in general is limited to Python, you will find the syntax and the general way of doing things confusing.
Now that you mentioned Ctrl+R, also check out program named atuin. It makes the command search a bit more friendly, and you can also optionally sync command history. It has NixOS options, of course.

It's really weird how your browser can access all that, but yeah, you can install it within a website and a phone plugged into that computer. Once you do it yourself, I really doubt there's anything malicious left.
I just tried generating an image of a ruler obscured by an object, and it seems to struggle with how much should be obscured (e.g. only 5in should be obscured but the number shows that there's 8 inches behind it).

NixOS synergises very well with terminal command aliases, you should check what commands you frequently use and put those into the config as well.

Both works well, though Blizzard launcher is a bit wonky from my experience. Something about a process went to sleep.

They're still bad with some languages from my experience. Not completely gibberish as it used to be, but not as good as typing it in.
