My wife's father was killed on 9/11. We usually go to the memorial on the anniversary. Its incredibly, incredibly somber. The reading of the names, the bells ring and time stops. Everything goes silent, and people are crying everywhere you look. I didn't know her dad, but it's the most difficult thing in the world for me every year. I truly can't imagine what she and other family members feel. I have empathy, but this is different. I can't describe the way you feel pain hanging in the air, but it's almost as though it's being hugged away by the other families who lost theirs. You feel it, but it's insulated in a way.

My father in law eats vaseline. He was sick once and applying some to his chest and, almost certainly subconsciously, dipped his finger in and ate a big scoop. To be fair, he's a complete idiot, but apparently there are folks out there who think it's helpful if swallowed. I honestly have no idea.

When you have to work to eat and survive you quickly stop giving a shit that you're "working." It doesn't feel like work to chop wood all day knowing it's gonna keep you from shivering or freezing all night.

That doesn't make it easy, it makes it less deflating. Work feels more like "work" when you're just doing it to make some other asshole rich.

Some poor corporate asshole had to literally write "Oral-B Brushing Experience" and pretend to care about what they do. Capitalism, baby! The goofy ass terminology people use to sell shit is sickening. "Using our new pasture woven insulation technology, we've guaranteed your feet will never be cold again" instead of "our socks are made of wool." I cringe.

I've worked with a couple people like this. They'll come in bragging about their (actually) impressive résumé. There will be a honeymoon phase where everyone is convinced Mr. Fancy Résumé will change the world. A year or two will go by and everyone will realize they are the embodiment of capitalism. All confidence, importance and big talk on the outside, actually dumb and ineffective on the inside. Gilded, you could say. They get wind that their time may be up, quit, put their new badge on their résumé and starting fucking the next one. All that is to say there are a lot of people out there who are great at building a résumé, but not actually great at doing any work.

I met Rocco at a party for the release of the 2nd Boondock Saints DVD. He and some of the other cast gave quick speeches and then just kind of hung out with the crowd. Super, super cool guy. Easy going, humble, down to Earth. Just one of those people that could make friends with anyone.

For almost any other crime I would agree with you, but in this case I think we need the spectacle. No one should give a flying fuck about a pedophile's reintegration after a punishment. Especially not for the folks who organized, facilitated and profited from said pedophilia.

Those of us who understand and respect the American Constitution down it's tenets and principles, are so dejected that we need to see some perp walks to believe justice exists at all here.

Its all just words on paper. It's the actions and accountability of our government that make justice real. Sure it was never perfect; definitely needed lots of improvement. But without accountability, it's gone. The fabric is unwoven. I don't believe our government is hostile enough towards the pedophiles that run it right now, so these shitbirds need to make me believe again.

Many Puerto Ricans are white. I've known many people over the years who are blonde hair, blue eyes, or green eyed gingers with freckles, but are as Puerto Rican as they come. Ask your local MAGA turd if they can explain why that might be.

I think we think it goes together because of Reese's. Like we see it as some classic combo. Ill say I've tried the combo several other ways and it really only works when the peanut butter is extremely, extremely sweet.
