It sounds like your immediate family becomes available if she's not in the picture. One thing that has completely changed my view - having time off from your kids is a gift. You get time to regroup and be the parent you want to be. It sucks not being there 100% of the time at first and is definitely an adjustment, but it makes a huge difference.
Your kids will be happier if you are happier. Mine were used against me and it was awful. If you wait, she could use that against you
2 young kids is very very stressful. If she isn't willing to meet you anywhere, then that might be the clarity that things won't work out. And that's ok
I resented my kids' mother. She ended up provoking arguments and recording me so that when we eventually went to court I looked like a monster.
Things immediately got easier when I was the one taking care of my kids. She took them and got custody when she left. It took me 2 years to get them back.
I don't know your situation, but if I could do it again - I would have left immediately when I realized I was deeply unhappy. She hadn't started provoking arguments and recording. It sucks now, but it gets better. My favorite thing now is that I can think "she's not my problem anymore" whenever she's got herself into some stupid predicament. One word of caution - be sure your agreement is clear on how to keep the kids safe. I've had to take her back to court to force her to keep them safe.
A friend has nearly the same situation. Nobody wants to go to court. But you will be so much happier after
You definitely don't get it. One, this is a future date to take effect. Two, these companies already have a way to run things locally - without Internet services. That's how the development works. This would force companies to release that local version when they decide to no longer support the game. So like how a lot of multiplayer games already work - steam has a server version that you download, run on a computer, and connect. Nobody who built these games wants them to be unavailable at some future point
I like using sonarr(https://sonarr.tv/) - you can assign the episodes and seasons. Then you can have it rename them. There is an absolute episode numbering setting. Trash guides is helpful too: https://trash-guides.info/
My setup is for Plex, but I'm assuming Jellyfin should be able to consume the library names the same
Really excited to try this. Handbrake always too daunting for me. Currently putting it into a docker container - couple of requests:
looks like the auto detect fails to see GPU passthrough on docker container. I'm assuming I can force it and ignore the auto detect?
I pointed it at a 7 season show on my NAS from a work server node. It appears to be copying everything over before starting the encoding. Could this be chunked? I'd like to eventually point this at all my media and let it run
EDIT:
Looks like it was my doing on the GPU docker stuff. Need to follow steps to enable GPU on docker then need the following arguments:
--gpus all -e NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=all -e NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES=compute,video,utility
In my experience, the original is preserved in these kinds of projects. QoL, tweaks, and others are optional. While some games may have taken slow downs into account, many did not. These projects, I would say, are the definitive way to play. Stay true to the original, or get fed up with outdated control methodologies and toggle on QoL changes. Devs are very attune to how these games were originally designed and don't forsake the original. As for emulators, you can still very much miss out on the intended way to play - think crt scanlines. And emulators are quite literally a hodgepodge of tweaks to make the games run. One of the reasons projects like this were born - because people wanted 100% accuracy
The recomp/decomps have turned out to be the absolute best way to experience these games. QoL tweaks, the game runs like it should, and is vastly more accessible. On original HW some games (looking at you Oot) have memory spikes and slow downs which is obviously not an issue in these flavors. Emulators are just about always with some trade off - recomp/decomp absolutely don't have that

Only 350 lbs. So easy to rearrange
I realize now I should have titled it Spamjo Canjo
