It is NOT a good idea to pick one or the other in your language spec. It's not up to you to force your specific coding style on others. Tabs vs. spaces is a style thing and if your language tries to decree that you aren't allowed to use your own indentation style, it's a bad language.
Just because "code editors handle it automatically" doesn't mean everyone should be forced to use spaces. (You shouldn't be forced to use tabs either, by the way. But particularly don't force the one that isn't resizable.)
Yeah the way we're doing it you kinda need friends who know the language better than you do (ideally native). When we were starting German I got TONS of incredibly helpful feedback from our German now-ex, which unfortunately we don't get anymore, but we still have a couple friends who speak German and can correct me from time to time. And for Chinese we've got a couple friends who speak Chinese (one is native and has been being super helpful, one I'm pretty sure is a learner like us just farther along than we are). We don't have any Japanese friends and I bet that's why I kinda burnt out on it pretty early, no way to get feedback.
Pupdate: TURNS OUT the reason the normal pinyin IME didn't have a simplified/traditional switch like everything seemed to indicate we SHOULD... was because we were missing the fcitx5-module-chttrans package!

For context, YAML literally WILL NOT LET YOU use tabs. The spaces people, not content with beating the tabs people into submission culturally, took it upon themselves to start effectively banning them at the tools level. It really worries me, not to mention being kinda offensive. There isn't even an "ease of parsing" excuse, since tabs are easier to parse than spaces (one tab = one indent level, done).
People have written YAML parsers with tabs support and got told off for it by the guy who came up with YAML. So yeah, it's very much intentional.

We tossed systemd out the window on our Debian. Stuff broke when we removed /etc/machine-id.
Turns out dbus ALSO uses it, but if it's not in /etc, it makes its own at /var/lib/dbus/machine-id (which was symlinked to /etc/machine-id on our system).
So we just wrote 00000000000000000000000000000000 to it instead. 🙃
Honestly, from what we hear, "sex addiction" is made-up bullshit by puritans to try and keep people in line and feeling properly ashamed about getting off.
Sex is totally normal. Porn is totally normal. Being horny is totally normal! Some people are just naturally hornier than others. (Some are less horny than the norm, too.) Being horny all the time isn't an "addiction", it's just having a different baseline horniness level. But even besides that, how much of "sex addiction" is people with perfectly average horniness looking at porn or whatever a perfectly average amount being shamed for it, combined with everyone else around them hiding their own wanking/porn/whatever because "oh it's shameful", making the baseline look artificially low?

Oh and BTW Mint is fine! It's based on Ubuntu sure, but actively undoes and strips out the crappy stuff Ubuntu adds.
They also have Linux Mint Debian Edition as a backup in case Ubuntu goes really evil.
