Ceci n'est pas une raisin

Leviathan@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 35d (9 replies)

Un*

Glowstick@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 35d (8 replies)

I was just using the wording from the painting. Is there a reason why it would be different for the word raisin instead of pipe?

sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 35d (7 replies)

Raisin is masculine so it gets 'un' but pipe is feminine so it gets 'une'. Gendered languages are interesting.

Glowstick@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 35d (5 replies)

Pipe is feminine?!

sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 35d (4 replies)

Yep! A mouse is feminine. A horse is masculine. A car is feminine. A fridge is masculine. A door is feminine. A bed is masculine.

Glowstick@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 35d

Sure, but a pipe is completely phallic. Please tell me flower and clam are feminine

SpongyAneurysm@feddit.org · 3 pts · 34d

In French, that is. Other gendered languages might be totally different, or even have 'genders' other than masculine/feminine.

Hueristic_Autistic@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 31d

Gendered languages are interesting.

Go lie on the ground in your kitchen and check with a flashlight under all the furniture and whatnot. There's bound to be a few.

My hubby has that problem too when he’s taking a shower. His BMI is off the scale.

Wow. Smart joke structure, but mean.

susi7802@sopuli.xyz · 11 pts · 35d

Yeah, thanks to Lemmy I’m getting pretty good at this.

LovableSidekick@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 35d (4 replies)

The store has them.

doomslang@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 35d (3 replies)

I find this response good and funny.

Also not to make it weird but I haven't been to a grocery store in years because I have agoraphobia, and I hadn't even thought about that part. 😅

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 34d (2 replies)

They'll literally even bring them to you, anymore.

forestbeasts@pawb.social · 4 pts · 34d (1 reply)

ordering grocery delivery for a single teeny tiny box of raisins, as a bit

(don't actually do that though, if you want to order some raisins get the rest of your groceries with it haha)

On an unrelated note, a joke I remember from my childhood, which I'll now butcher because it's been a few decades:

Person goes to grocery store, asks if they have apples. "We do" "Good, can you give me 10, individually bagged?"

Next day: "Do you have carrots?" "Yes, we do" "Can you give me 5 of them, individually bagged?"

Day after that: "Do you have raisins?" "NO, we do not sell raisins here!"

TheLowestStone@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 35d (1 reply)

I work with raisins on a daily basis.

LovableSidekick@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d

Me too. They're a pain amirite? Especially that one who always makes meetings take forever.

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 34d

Only way I can tolerate raisins.

HubertManne@piefed.social · 7 pts · 35d

I love em and see them all the time. Same with peanuts. Good ole raisins and peanuts.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 7 pts · 35d

Next time I am in a store, imma be looking for raisins now.

Willdrick@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 34d

Ooh it was for real? I thought it was wordplay on "I haven't seen a raise in 15 years"

theywilleatthestars@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 35d

My nephew ate them all.

Pat_Riot@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 35d (2 replies)

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 34d (1 reply)

Pat_Riot@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 34d

Yep, I had a handful when I got home from work.

rhythmisaprancer@quokk.au · 3 pts · 35d

Maybe you should wash your dishes.

You must not like oatmeal cookies cause I can promise you they’re still there

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 34d (1 reply)

Have they not discovered chocolate chips yet where you are?

Polisheocket@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 34d

Don’t need to be specific. Both can be used and be fire

RebekahWSD@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 35d

I have some in the pantry if you need them. Still good, they were not part of the cleanup!

All of the solar panels took away the sun and the grapes can't dry out anymore. /s

Raisins went out with the macarena

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 34d

I just encountered some in a bag of snack mix the other day. It was not an experience I cared for.

ms_lane@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 34d

Sultanas > Currants > Raisins

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 35d

It's because most people don't really like raisins so most people aren't going out of their way to get raisins. We only saw them a bunch growing up because there was an ad campaign.

I don't even know what kind of container they come in anymore. Raisins are weird and niche af if you think about it.

SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 0 pts · 35d

Consider it a blessing

orenj@leminal.space · -1 pts · 35d (1 reply)

Good. Dried fruits should have died out with the mass adoption of refridgeration

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 34d

Even dried bananas or dried cherries with dark chocolate!?

makeshift0546@lemmy.today · -5 pts · 35d

Because they are garbage and nobody eats them anymore. Maybe you get them in a full dish if you are unlucky.
