It's great TV, with strong female characters and a nice revenge/supernatural plot which I loved
The music's excellent too, especially the bit where the cop finds out about her sister, I can't remember the name of the artist or track, but it brings up all the feels when I hear it played
It hit me hard too, she was a lovely human being who made the world better for having been in it
I have total respect for her, how she grew up in abject poverty, harnessed her talents, didn't let people in the music industry take away her ownership of her songs (ahem, Elvis Presley), and when she had money she invested it in communities and people
She seemed to have a great sense of humour, could take the piss out of herself and had a massive heart
And Jolene is easily one of the best songs ever written
The world is better for her being in it and diminished by her passing (and when she was ill she offered herself to have cancer treatments tested on her) she was a class act and total mensch
And Tim Curry...another top person, he brightened up every film he was in, no matter how shit
I'm looking forward to new posts and reading about women I've never heard of before...and some I probably have!
My favourite was the pirate-lady who commanded a massive fleet in the China seas, lived long enough to retire wealthy and married her step son (I could be wrong about the last bit though)
Taking down shelves, then filling the holes in the walls, so I can paint and make the house look presentable for when the new owner signs the paperwork
I think its funny that you mention us still having cavemen levels of designated gender, I've seen references to neolithic and Neanderthal people as being less rigid, example skeletons buried with weapons or hunting equipment designated male until DNA shows they're female, also bodies of tattooed female shamans. I can't point you in the direction of any links yet (I'm in a hospital right now) but I think its assumed that child care, "womens work" keeping the home fire burning and the food cooking was more of a joint community effort with both male/female involvement
Perhaps our ancestors were more accepting of the natural mosiac of gender and sexuality than we are now?
I think the dogma of the Church has destroyed a lot of natural rhythms of human nature, the whole "its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" strict gender roles/rules and misogyny, which is ironic as Jesus was always about love your neighbour, do unto others, let he who is without sin etc
And let's face it he probably had a wife and female disciples
Its always about power and control to stop the majority overthrowing the rich minority, then as now
My dog once found a bag of cakes on our walk, I dragged him away, and kept on walking, then realised he wasn't with me...he'd snuck back and had his head in the bag scoffing away
So I dragged him away again, got home, sat down on the sofa ready to chill
Within about 5 minutes he was up and at the door indicating he needed to go out. Now this is a dog who was partial to manky kebabs found under bushes which he'd then throw up on my floor, so any indication that he needed to go out was to be taken seriously
So out we go and off he goes with purpose in the direction of the cakes. When I realise he wasn't out to throw up, but to eat more cake I dragged him back home.
I'm part way through the article, and its a fascinating read, and very well explained
I think its interesting how people tie themselves into knots with the whole binary male/female with convoluted descriptions of large small gametes defining gender (I'm particularly thinking of jk rowlings tweet and all the terf stuff)
I can see how binary definitions can never adequately reflect the complexity of an individuals internal experience. And also the designation of male/female is a social construct than biological reality
I am a late in life diagnosed autistic woman, my experience of reality will always differ from someone who doesn't have sensory issues because of my autism. I've had my mother, teachers and friends deny my experiences of reality because it doesn't match theirs. It seems barbaric to apply outdated social constructs to something as varied and complex as a human being
I think I may be waffling, but TLDR thanks for the link, its helping me understand things more clearly

The electrics for these are straight forward, certainly here in the UK, and the proper info on the internet (actual diy websites) I've found to be accurate. Also the smoke alarm and bathroom extractor came with installation instructions
Do you have a photo of the IKEA bookcase? I've got a few IKEA things which worked well in my flat, I know they get criticised sometimes, but if you get the solid wood rather than the particle board their furniture does last
I've seen some amazing pieces on Pinterest years ago that was felted with silky ribbon bits. I just love the colours that you can get now with wool tops and all the lovely silky fibres to mix in, so much more variety than years ago, and potential
