Knowing the best batteries are made mostly of lithium and something else puts us 100 years ahead in battery tech.
Knowing that rubber is supposed to be black leads to the discovery of vulcanization early and saves us from decimating the whale populations.
Knowing there are massive oil deposits in the middle east, Texas, Canada, and Mexico, or massive gold/diamond/steel/copper deposits in various areas makes nations supremely wealthy instantly after they extract resources.
For our purposes, though, photography need to advance drastically. If you know this is coming and have time to prep ahead of time, you learn everything you can to hasten the invention of the photograph.

I'm not sure of statehood sentiment after that; it's likely the Dakotas/Montana vote for statehood as a single state rather than multiple territories- they're landlocked, so would become a vassal state to the surrounding countries (Canada, usa).
Next, tackle the US' existing slavery and apartheid systems. The civil war is over, but slavery still exists in the form of Jim Crow laws and such.
The next hurdle to cross is the rampant corruption inherent in the system. This era already had a great deal of progress- antitrust legislation primarily. I shepherd these movements along and make them stronger.

It does make sense for very rural customers. For my parents to get fiber like you suggest, someone would have to string up about 10 miles of fiber to gain like 50 customers, maybe. With another 90 miles of fiber they can get all the way to 1000 people served; idk how many households that is but the unit economics don't make sense.
If your only metric is "long dev cycles bad", then yeah this looks bad because you're comparing games stuck in development hell to a game that has demonstrably had like 8 years of real dev time. Additionally, it's not like Rockstar have put out stinkers in the past. every GTA game I've ever played has been a fun single player experience. I can't imagine R* nuking the billions they've spent developing their game and the goodwill they've gathered in the past. Are there going to be scammy bullshit things in the game? Sure. It's literally impossible for them to raise money from investors if they don't put it in there. But if it's another game "only" just as good as GTA v, it will sell incredibly well and be worth the up front money.
If apple had a 1tb Mac studio, it'd sell so goddamn fast due to being able to run some of the largest open LLMs out there. I've been using GLM 5.2 and it's damn near opus 5.6, the first model I thought was good enough to just write code without intense guidance. 1tb is well within the range where you could run the model on your own hardware. The higher prices are there to head off the deserved intense demand
