Physical leap, startled, or time travel?

Literally this afternoon I jumped as high as I could to see if I could touch the ceiling. I could not.

MurrayL@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

check out Mr Big Shot over here with the high ceilings

m4xie@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 1y

The ceilings are normal. He's actually Mr Small Shot

I went to year 1194 and saw some Turkish guys arguing about some grey men. Later Time Interference and Time Travel Society (TITTS) seized my travel card.

A time Jump, I see

LowtierComputer@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1y

No, gravity.

Pulptastic@midwest.social · 9 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Does bounding up the stairs count? I definitely get air and I do it almost every time I go up stairs. I average about 20 flights of stairs a day.

flubba86@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Your thighs must be hella toned.

Pulptastic@midwest.social · 2 pts · 1y

The do be. I am a cyclist and biked thousands of miles a year until recently.

deadcatbounce@reddthat.com · 8 pts · 1y

Car wouldn't start.

colourlessidea@sopuli.xyz · 7 pts · 1y

Yesterday! At a concert. A LOT

SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

About fifteen minutes ago.

The third and fourth stairs leading to my second floor are rotted out and I’m too lazy to replace them so it’s a couple times a day.

Literally a couple hours ago because my coworker asked the same question.

Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu · 4 pts · 1y

Plot twist: op is your coworker

Binette@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 1y

Today. I exercised

Heikki@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 1y

This afternoon, while walking through a parking lot with my toddler. We had to avoid the cracks.

AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 1y

Last time I went down the stairs at my apartment complex. Accidentally started going down on the wrong foot and wouldn't land on the correct foot when I got off the stairs, so I jumped the last couple. Long story short, in my case it's an autism thing more than any actual issue, so that is why I jumped.

user224@lemmy.sdf.org · 5 pts · 1y

I don't quite remember, but sort of like... 8 hours ago while traveling go work in a company bus.

The driver was going quite fast and didn't notice a speed bump. Shortly, he became a pilot.

Ah fuck it, lets simplify it. 5 seconds ago. There you go.

tymon@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 1y

Almost every day. Whether I'm skipping a step, avoiding a puddle, panic-flailing away from a sudden pile of dog shit, or trying to grab something from a too-high shelf in my small apartment, living in Brooklyn means you're idiot-floating more often than not

January, i friend was out of town for two months and the battery of his car was dead, fortunately I had my cables in the trunk of my car

UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 1y

3 weeks ago and I hurt myself. I'm not a kid anymore.

Thcdenton@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Like really really jumped? July 31st 2024

NorthWestWind@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

My sister asked if I'm tall enough to touch the ceiling. My hand was wet and I left 3 fingerprints up there.

Today@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Can you jump and touch your head to the doorway? My kids used to challenge each other to that.

NorthWestWind@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Probably? Idk I'm not home now can't test it

I jumped to miss a puddle.

Me too! An icy/snowy puddle

The cat suddenly parked itself on the stairs. Some day, she'll cause serious harm. Until then, pet, pet you cute assassin.

cheesymoonshadow@lemmings.world · 3 pts · 1y

Our cat has been trying to kill us for 21 years. He wasn't feeling well recently, but after a vet visit and meds, I knew he was feeling better as soon as he darted across my path and I almost tripped.

Thavron@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 1y

Last Thursday I jumped up onto a ledge at the office to take better pictures of the vaulted ceiling. We're renting out the space so my boss asked me to take pictures.

HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com · 2 pts · 1y

Can't remember. I have done some things that might be considered a hop. To avoid puddles or slick spots on sidewalk or mud.

juliebean@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y

maybe half an hour ago, when i jumped into bed. before that, i jumped up or over a few ledges on my walk home from work. wild to me that anyone is citing a timeframe longer than a day to be honest,

psyklax@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y

Oh, I call it leaping. Quantum leap. It's been almost 10 years. Decided to settle down and live out this life.

inamorta345@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 1y

I was trying to see if I would become a billionaire if I jumped in an X like Musk. Hasn't worked yet

2xsaiko@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 1y

Summer last year, getting into a private/walled off area I wanted to explore. (That was a ~2m drop onto some stairs so getting out was much harder than getting in haha)

whaleross@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

I did a little skipping out today. It's a signal to my dog that we get moving along.

Monster96@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

To get out of someone's way in a store today. Not really a jump, more like a hop.

ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 1y

I go bouldering and do a lot of dynos, so I regularly jump. Last time was special though it was yesterday when I was at amateur wrestling for the first time as the Shrieking Spud

potentiallynotfelix@lemmy.fish · 2 pts · 1y

Maybe 30 minutes ago, I was watching a very tense video.

LastoftheDinosaurs@walledgarden.xyz · 2 pts · 1y

A few days ago, to grab a glass off a shelf

Wahots@pawb.social · 1 pts · 1y

Probably some minor hops here and there, but my last serious jumps were while skiing in a mascot, to get some photos, weekend before last :)

hedge_lord@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Tuesday. Jumping rope is good for cardio.

Uninvited4586@lemmy.cat · 1 pts · 1y

I jumped reading this post

AceSLive@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

You mean intentionally left the surface I was on, or do you mean jumped as in got startled?

I've jumped around a lot.. ADHD makes it tricky for me not to be bouncy, sometimes

Been startled, though? It's been a good while..

sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 1y

Probably a few days ago. Sometimes I just be leaping and bounding. Jumping even, in my home.

Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu · 1 pts · 1y

With my bike does it count? If so, yesterday multiple times to avoid speed bumps on the road.

whelk@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 1y

Yesterday. My kids and I like to imitate awkward game/MMO character movements so there's a lot of random jumping.

flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

Yesterday on my bike. managed a few jumps and even a wall-ride transition.

strange question, though - is this a euphamism from 'the kids' I don't know about?

Today@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

About a week ago. At work. To try to get a kid to jump.

saigot@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 1y

I almost always skip the last 3 steps of my stairs on the way down.

HelixDab2@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 1y

2013-ish? My ex-spouse was really into that. They went on to get certified, I did my 3rd or 4th solo jump (still had main and reserve coaches, but not a tandem jump), and decided that it didn't mean enough to me to keep spending money on it. My ex-spouse ended up embezzling a lot of money from our joint account to pay for their jumping habit; they bought a container, main and reserve canopies, and a custom jumpsuit, and then tried to to stick me with the credit card debt for it in the divorce.

Matriks404@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

I jump at least few times per month, when I walk with my dog in random places. Most often over small river in my area I think.
