Labubus are still a thing? I thought that wave of idiocity had passed already?

flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz · 64 pts · 346d (16 replies)

Not just yet. Now that the knowledge of Labubus is mainstream they will go out of fashion soon. But there will be one last wave while normies pretend to be fashionable.

noride@lemmy.zip · 48 pts · 346d (13 replies)

Honestly thought South Park made them up, I had never heard of them before that. It's beanie babies all over again.

orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 41 pts · 346d (12 replies)

And Stanley Cups.

snooggums@piefed.world · 44 pts · 346d (8 replies)

I'll bet she doesn't have 500 copies of the same book with different colors of covers.

wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 15 pts · 346d (1 reply)

Collecting something can be a fun hobby. Buying collectibles is something a fucking idiot does.

orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 9 pts · 346d

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 345d (5 replies)

i do have a few books i have a personal copy and a lending copy

meekah@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 345d (3 replies)

Still a different thing than having 500 Stanley cups..

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 345d

my dude i am on my sixth copy of Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey because no one gives it back and honestly, i'm kind of cool with that it's my favorite book/series. we don't have that many stanleys, but FFS we get so many crappy nalgenes as swag at conventions i don't know what to do with them all. now i guess we have a "you had an earthquake and weren't paying attention" cupboard because

happens with all those shitty nalgenes.

Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 345d

At one point I had three copies of Bryson's Short History. I think they're all on permanent loan at this point. Pretty happy with that

fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 346d (2 replies)

I have one of those because it's the only damn 2L metallic closeable bottle I could find to refill twice everyday.

orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 346d

But do you have 20?

Nikls94@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 345d

I have the MEGA tanka by ecotanka. 2L stainless steel bottle with neoprene suit. It keeps it cool for hours

laranis@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 346d

I am a good benchmark for this stuff. If I know what Labubu is because I had to find it on Urban Dictionary then it has run its course.

The other canary is NPR. Anything on NPR is a dead meme.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 345d

i'm back into beanie babies.

SSUPII@sopuli.xyz · 10 pts · 346d

They have made a very strong community.

morphballganon@mtgzone.com · 6 pts · 346d (6 replies)

There are people who still like furbies.

rustyricotta@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 11 pts · 346d (5 replies)

I prefer long furbies

::: spoiler Tap for spoiler :::

wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 346d

I want to see someone make a fully articulated one of these with custom software running on it so it writhes along with whatever furby stuff it's doing.

morphballganon@mtgzone.com · 3 pts · 346d (2 replies)

Putting links in spoiler tags makes them much harder to click on mobile, fyi

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 345d (1 reply)

the image probably just didn't load. if you view the comment's source, the ! before the link to the image loads it on the page instead of having to click through.

morphballganon@mtgzone.com · 3 pts · 345d

I guess Connect hasn't implemented that feature.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 345d

kill it kill it with fire

edit: accidentally misgendered the furby

FenrirIII@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 346d (2 replies)

I think the company lost like a quarter of its value recently

Treczoks@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 346d (1 reply)

I wonder how many containers of those thingies are still shipping around the globe...

7toed@midwest.social · 4 pts · 346d

How many have fallen off their container ship and are mow adrift, waiting to be dug up from the seafloor in 200 years

Agent641@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 345d (3 replies)

Dog cum

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 345d (2 replies)

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 5 pts · 345d (1 reply)

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 345d

Thank you for the offer but i'm no germaphobe

PonderousParrot@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 345d

Someone tried this with a box once.

MeatPilot@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 346d (2 replies)

Just get a monchichi and look hip AND vintage

Obi@sopuli.xyz · 16 pts · 346d (1 reply)

These things are so creepy.

ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org · 2 pts · 345d

So are Labubus but also kitchy.

sexy_peach@feddit.org · 19 pts · 346d (2 replies)

I can afford a labubu. But why would I buy one

simplejack@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 346d (1 reply)

Because the social safety net is broken and gambling on rare labubus is your retirement now.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 345d

wait they're just godsdamned beanie babies? AGAIN? does anyone have a spare labubu so i can put farts in its head

Paradachshund@lemmy.today · 19 pts · 346d

Honestly cuter than actual labubu

lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 14 pts · 346d (2 replies)

I just yesterday watched a video by Emma Thorn making fun of people who think these are demonic. Never heard of them before

theneverfox@pawb.social · 5 pts · 345d

They are demonic. The business practices are pure evil... And the dolls themselves are unsettling, like a furbee or something, but that's neither here nor there

TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 345d

Not all of them, only the rare one can be used in the demonic summoning ritual

DaGeek247@fedia.io · 8 pts · 346d (5 replies)

The screenshot is bad enough that I can't tell if this is a troll where they took a picture of the back of one, or where they actually collected that much dog hair for a joke photo.

And009@lemmynsfw.com · 7 pts · 345d (3 replies)

It's dog hair, could be from a single session of brushing depending on the kind of dog they have.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 345d (2 replies)

one of the couples at lesbian game night has a husky and hoo boy. you ain't kidding. that was a fun afternoon taking turns helping her through her shed tho.

prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 345d (1 reply)

What are lesbian games? I’d like to add them to my game night. Thanks

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 345d

oh just everyone there is either a lesbian or me, who's weird. same games, just different vibe

clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 346d

It looks like a clear plastic case full of hair to me!

Harvey656@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 346d (1 reply)

So this is what makes reddit content these days.

prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 345d

Shockingly also Lemmy content

coffee_nutcase207@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 345d

The working man's Labubu.

BigDaddySlim@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 346d (1 reply)

The first time I had ever heard about labubus was the last episode of South Park. I thought they were just some dumb thing Matt and Trey came up with to use as a vehicle to talk about the tariffs, then I learned they were actually real.

MML@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 345d

Same and the next day I see a pop up gazebo selling them, like how.

bigboitricky@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 346d

respect the hussle

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 345d (2 replies)

Just 3D print one?

ICastFist@programming.dev · 2 pts · 345d (1 reply)

But it won't come out fluffy :(

PonderousParrot@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 345d

Just cover it in dog hair.
