Go to the Asian grocery store. Not the little one, the big one that took over a dead kohls or something.

Go in the way back where they have all the cooking gear. They always have thin steel bowls that range from reasonable to omfg size. They're like $4.

That's your salad bowl. Also pick up some rice bowls while you're in there.

Y'all got Asian grocery stores? Best I got is the international isle in Food Lion.

ack, food lion, yuck. I mean, Publix is expensive, but you could at least go to the 'teet. Ain't no reason to be in a food lion.

We don't have a Publix or harris teeter. My only other full grocery store is walmart.

my "big" (SEA, not India) asian grocery has chopsticks and the good soup spoons but no big bowls. i am also fortunate to live a short drive from a big fancy restaurant supply store, so i guess we all get them there.

instead of putting in a cooking gear section in ours, it's the town's best seafood selection. not as good as driving into the "local" fish market yourself, but saves you an hour and a half at least.

This is why I always serve out of my prep bowl. Fucker deserves to experience the whole meal.

I prepare, serve, and eat my salad all from the same bowl. My salad bowl is also my popcorn bowl and also my sick bowl.

It's efficient.

BanMe@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 315d

Oh I forgot the combo popcorn/sick bowl from childhood, a green Tupperware container. Thanks for that. I can still smell it.

I do this when I'm being fancy. The rest of the time... Nah, that bowl is gonna do it all.

MissJinx@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 315d

oh I always make my salad in a bowl. Like the one I use to bake. If it's too much I can save but I'll never be hungry again

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 316d (1 reply)

Look, if I use a bigger bowl, I'm just going to want a bigger salad.

instructions unclear. could someone toss my salad?

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 315d

It’s a bigger bowel than you think.

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 316d (1 reply)

I've got this sieve that's definitely smaller than my salad bowl, which I'll fill up with salad for washing. Then I pour from the sieve into the bowl and boom, the bowl is full. Gotta be some black magic at work there...

look for gastronorm container. cheap, sturdy, stackable, a life changer if you need to prepare lots of veggies

That’s an interesting idea. I hate that food storage is all randomly sized plastic crap with a plethora of lids. It’s ridiculous when someone is selling a set where every size, every lid is different. It’s ridiculous when I find a convenient size and can’t get another of that size. It’s ridiculous that you end up building an unorganizable mess of random lids. so much better to have relatively few sizes, consistently, and durable materials that don’t need to be replaced as often.

I’ve been trying to reduce my plastic usage, the plastic content of my food, and have changed storage containers to mostly glass. But it’s still a plethora of plastic lids, I still can’t get another set of same sizes, and they’ll still have to be replaced every several years because of the plastic lid
