You ain't seen nothin yet! Go and study 1930s Germany. Before the war. Even before the invasions of other countries. Look how they used their government to cement nazi propaganda.
Now look at the USA today. Kinda feels like 1935 Germany I'd say. If that alone doesn't scare the shit out of you, then I redirect your attention back to studying, because you clearly missed everything to be gained by studying history.
History never repeats itself, but it often rhymes.
The US is following the playbook by the letter. The biggest difference between nascent Nazi Germany and the US today? We've had 80+ years to build up military power which we'll use to crush any who stand against us, while Germany was still fighting against crippling debt and hoping not to generate too much notice as they built up their military power. While the Nazi's had to coax, cajole, and bully the media into speaking or reporting on them favorably, this administration has managed to get the media to eagerly accede to demands that haven't been made. The government shuts down, President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho Mayor McCheese will declare a state of emergency that includes the criminalization of the opposition party for causing the shutdown, then he'll cite whatever war Secretary HePronoun Removed-Man has started as the reason for a full martial law implementation and the military annexation of Canada for "Secure the Borders!". In this scenario US=Germany, Canada=Poland, and we just skip the Sudetenland and The Anschluss (though to the administration, they'll expect that the annexation of Canada will equate to The Anschluss) and go right to the need for "Lebensraum"
Hey now, President Camacho may not have been a terribly smart man, but he definitely wanted to get the smartest person in the room working on real problems to find real solutions. Don't drag his name by comparing him to Trump.
Hopefully that means fascism crashes and burns twice as fast.
Remember, the nazis died because Hitler shot himself. But he only shot himself because the whole world was ready to do it for him. We put enough pressure that it was the only outcome either way.
Lets take that fight to the GOP. Not trump, the GOP. Because if trump is gone, some other pedophile asshole would be happy to take his place. Remember, as much as it feels like he is, trump isn't THE problem. He's just the current face of the problem.
I don't know why you have to be a dick in your response to me but I will return the favor in my response.
Well maybe you shouldn't assume someone doesn't know the history because you don't understand what they mean.
Some quick steps to understand subtext:
As it is obvious that a website can be used for anything, the description of wild is not actually describing the act.
If it is not describing the act, what is it describing? Clearly it is describing an ability. The ability of whom? As the "what" is already excluded as an option. The government's abilit to do that!
Obviously the government can do that though... so maybe the ability is not the ability to do it but the lack of consequences that one has to face when doing it.
consequences? From whom? The public.
So let's read it again, "it is wild that the public let the government publish obviously partisan propaganda over public channels like that".
But why would the author expect the public to show a reaction to this behaviour? Mhm maybe because he is aware of the history and he assumes that the general public has the vague understanding, due to history, that the government shouldn't be used to push partisan propaganda.
But please, be proud of how smart you are and how you know history while failing to understand the subtext of a simple sentence.
It's currently breaking the law. The Hatch Act is supposed to prevent federal employees from participating in politics like this. Not that they care. Someone else in the thread mentioned repairing violations of the Hatch Act.
I swear I'll never understand this mindset where young men think that 1) they'll automatically be assigned a woman that meets their specifications and 2) that will magically solve all their problems. It's such a juvenile way of looking at the world. It's why some women can't wait for sexbots so these chuds can be placated and leave us the fuck alone.
The people orchestrating this shit have told us exactly what they want (Project 2025), and it includes women losing basic bodily autonomy, as well as the right to vote.
I think a lot of them know exactly what it means, and it's what they want.
It’s cute that you think this about sex. It’s not. Things would be so much easier, long game, with MAGA if this was just a pleasure problem. Take a dive into the manosphere if you must, but I’ll save you the ick and tell you the heart and spine of most of it isn’t about sex on the level of pleasure and could never be touched by a sex bot.
This is about procreation. Legacy. Men can’t have personal legacy without us and there is a political movement that is angry, driven, and even feeling fundamentally betrayed and rancorous for the current societal setup as well as those engaged in maintaining that societal setup for “robbing” them of this “basic necessity of life”. Even though the above necessarily involves another human being, alongside the probable erasure of that human beings liberty, that is second to this raw want of legacy in the form of babies made with their own sperm.
Trad wives. Roe falling. Discussions to ban birth control and IUDs. Discussions on how to incentivize birth rate increases. Kennedy looking at mifepristone, potentially to pull it entirely. A national security order that names behaving in an unchristian manner as treasonous, allowable for federal law enforcement to pursue.
Consider that last one within the context of women’s liberation and the MAGA ethos. Does it mean that someone is going to come to your house right now and arrest you? No, it doesn’t work like that, they can’t logistically arrest everyone. What the guideline does do is put potential in their pocket to create examples so the rest of the nation will self regulate in alignment with what they want. What’s unchristian? Getting an abortion in a blue state? If a husband brings suit will this be on the SCOTIS docket? What will haven to divorce? I don’t know how this plays out, but the potential is there with that latest national security guideline.
An entire manosphere movement wrapped up in discussing falling birth rates and how it could cause the economic collapse of a nation, in addition to rolling out “experts”, some of them women, who discuss how mentally unhealthy this present societal setup is for women and how much happier women would be reclaiming their role as mothers. We’re built for motherhood and have also thus been betrayed by the current societal setup (not my sentiment, as a reminder, this being Lemmy).
That last paragraph describes the body of high consumption material for young men within the manosphere.
We need to not lose sight of that in the coming days. Heritage still exists and it’s still working within this administration. There’s a reason P25 has removal of HIPAA for anything reproductive on the to do list.
I think MAGA is waiting for a tighter grip on control before they double down on 51% of the population. It’s a bullet in the MAGA gun, one that’s even chambered a round already and is waiting to line up a shot once they remove some of these vision obstructing liberties.
Jesus Christ America is going to be the new healthcare plan for the needy people who lose coverage in to fund Trump’s billionaire tax cuts. Pray to Jesus.
“God blessed us with this great nation, and together, we can increase self-sufficiency and empower Americans to climb the economic ladder toward a brighter future.”
- Secretary Scott Turner

The Hatch Act, a federal law passed in 1939, limits certain political activities of federal employees, as well as some state, D.C., and local government employees who work in connection with federally funded programs. The law’s purposes are to ensure that federal programs are administered in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect federal employees from political coercion in the workplace, and to ensure that federal employees are advanced based on merit and not based on political affiliation.
Those complaints are going straight into a shredder.
This administration has been blatant about putting right wing allies into major positions of power in the government and basing decision-making on partisan politics in every branch, at every level of government.
Those that play ball are promoted, those that don't, like the CDC director, get replaced.
Mike Johnson literally just shut the government down to prevent the release of the Epstein files. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you, full stop.
I do not know enough about us politics so I'll ask. Would shutting down the government to prevent the release of the Epstein files be a very stupid choice because it's basically a short term solution?
Surely there are other corrupt ways to get out of these ones, like falsifying them
Of course they do! But the Woke Left™️ is somehow infinitely weak and powerless, while also being endlessly insurmountably strong, and this cognitive dissonance is why Fascist rhetoric is so effective. It allows them to feel permanently powerful and in control, while ALSO raging endlessly against whatever Out-Group they hate somehow controlling everything behind the scenes, spawning an infinite cycle of hatred, vitriol, and violence that only ever ends in blood.
It's bullshit, plain and simple, but it's terrifyingly effective bullshit, because you cannot rationally convince them that it IS bullshit. It relies explicitly on whoever believes it being willing to purposely ignore reality in favor of vibes and rage, which modern Republican voters have been purpose bred (metaphorically) for over the last 50 years through FOX News.
The lies never stopped in American history. From the very first day it was a lie in the creation declaration that "all men are created equal" America is just a nation of lies and will forever be so.
They didn't even get a chance to play hardball. There was no debate or vote on a funding bill at all.
Mike Johnson shut the government down to prevent the newly elected rep from New Mexico from being the final vote needed to force a discharge petition that would circumvent Johnson's stonewalling of the Epstein files being released.
