What is that one alcohol that you had a bad experience with, that you can’t even stand the smell of now?

For me, it’s tequila. I wasn’t prepared for how quickly I got drunk and how drunk I got lol

Never again. shudder

I don't drink at all now, but Jager. We drank a lot of it when I was first drinking as a young adult, so much so I even think about how it smells I get nauseous.

naeap@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 344d

Same for me

Was working at a fast food stand at night in my youth (well, for nearly 10 years) and Jägermeister was the only shot we had
So I drank that with the customer

Don't even want to look at it anymore...

I tried it a couple times and never acquired the taste. Although, you’re not the only person I’ve heard say that :D

Weirdfish@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 344d (5 replies)

Gin, I'll drink Malort before I touch gin

itsworkthatwedo@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 344d (1 reply)

I legit love Malort. So delicious. I like gin too, but it gets me riled up. One gin drink max.

Pulptastic@midwest.social · 3 pts · 344d

I’ve heard others say that too. Interesting!

naeap@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 344d

Yeah, gin is probably a personally preference
For me it tastes like perfumed alcohol

I like my alcohol more... honest

I <3 Mallort even though I hate Chicago.

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 344d

I love Chicago but you can keep rhe Mallort. My big hub of great lakes sleaze

Pineapple juice. I went to a party in college that had some sort of unholy concoction of jungle juice with a bunch of cheap pineapple juice powder to mask how terrible it was. Completely ruined pineapple juice forever.

pebbles@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 344d

Oh Jesus. Jungle juice was a hazy near forgotten memory for me. What a horrible concept. Or at least horrible execution near every time. I may have had one okay jungle juice in my entire college career.

fubarx@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 344d

Tequila too.

College. Everyone doing shots. Throwing up in a back alley. Never again.

rizo@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 344d

Same here Tequila. But 15 years late I got one served "by accident" and wouldn't you know it, I'm back baby.

b34k@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 344d (1 reply)

Southern Comfort. Shared the same initials as my college, and was a Marching Band favorite at all of our various rituals…

blackbrook@mander.xyz · 2 pts · 344d

That's the one aversion I never got over. I'm not unhappy about it either, if there's to be a thing I can't ever drink, that seems a pretty good choice.

DoctorWhookah@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 344d

I once barfed Jager all down the side of my friend’s white Fiero. This was in 1989. Haven’t touched the stuff since.

Cutty Sark Scotch.

bluesheep@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 344d

Anything anise (e.g. ouzo). Woke up one new years day with an open bottle next to me and the sight of the stuff alone made me almost puke

Flickerby@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 344d (1 reply)

Blackberry liquor. I woke up on my porch cradled around half a cooking pot of ramen at like 4 am and no shirt or memory of the last 8 hours. Still don't know what happened to that shirt.

blackbrook@mander.xyz · 1 pts · 344d

It's funny, it seemed like blackberry brandy was a popular choice for getting fucked up underage drinking back in my day. But I don't think I've ever encountered an adult use of it. Never knew anyone to drink it, or ever saw it in a cocktail recipe.

Vodka,

Tried to shot n entire 1 literally bottle at 18 got so sick never again.

Brake clean smells similar enough it makes me gag too

MajorSauce@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 344d

For me it's Goldschlager. Got a bad experience with it and the strong "cinnamon" smell made this aversion last even 20 years later...

theacharnian@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 344d

Vodka 25 years ago.

Pulptastic@midwest.social · 5 pts · 344d

Sweet shots like Crown and Jaeger. Cloyingly sweet. I’ll take a bitter burn over that any day.

putitoutwithyourbootsted@piefed.social · 4 pts · 344d

Sailor Jerry

sorrybookbroke@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 344d

For about a year it was lambs navy 151 dark rum. It squirmed it's way back into my heart though

scottmeme@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 344d

Downed a whole bottle of Svedka, was drunk the entire next day. Won't touch that shit again.

iMastari@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 343d

Vodka.

Fernet Branca 🤮

klemptor@startrek.website · 3 pts · 344d

Whiskey. Over two decades later and I still can't stand it.

rikudou@lemmings.world · 3 pts · 344d

Apricot brandy (at least that's what GPT says is the English name, basically it's distilled from ripe apricots, Czechs distil pretty much any fruit into alcohol).

turkalino@lemmy.yachts · 3 pts · 344d

For me, anything dragonfruit flavored

For seemingly everyone else in my life, they had a bad experience with Fireball when they were young and didn’t know how to pace themselves yet, which sucks because I unironically like Fireball

ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 344d

Hot butter rum.

Bongles@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 341d

It was vodka for me, but i got over it. Probably the closest now is jagermeister. For some reason when we were young we picked that to drink, and now none of us want another drop.
