::: spoiler I don't know if this was an homage to this classic shitty_watercolour meme, but I wanted to share it anyway as it's such a classic. :::

That's a really short video!

Maybe they're like me and watch stuff at 2.5x

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 6 pts · 290d

Exactly what you need to fall asleep :D

baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 290d (6 replies)

I'm sorry that the world has hurt you so

Music is still 1x, so are movies and TV shows.

Its just podcasts and yt thats 2.5-3.

MBM@lemmings.world · 2 pts · 288d

Podcasts make sense to me, if there's a lot of barely edited rambling

baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 290d (3 replies)

I understand, I do the same sometimes (though at 1.5x) and I'm very upset that my mindless consumption of the internet has made me this way, and now it's much harder to stop. I very much understand why attention spans are shortening, and it hurts.

errer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 290d (1 reply)

I do 1.5x as well, but that’s already speedy for me. 2.5x sounds unwatchable, how do you absorb anything?

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 290d

chipmunk on cocaine noises that sounds vaguely like words

Oh yeah, I totally understand

SnokenKeekaGuard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 290d

Up to 3, but 2.5 as the standard.

The best kind. It's annoying that interesting vids are all 10, 20, or even 40 min long

noodlejetski@piefed.social · 12 pts · 290d (3 replies)

I too hate it when people are trying to cover complex stuff properly instead of giving an almost-but-not-really correct digest

psx_crab@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 290d (1 reply)

Idk why you need to be that condesending and binary, you can cover an interesting stuff without being too complicated. The art of covering interesting topic in brief is long gone after Tom Scott left the scene it seems.

Edit: Internet Shaquille and Ted-Ed is always worth mentioning. Not every topic need to be overcomplicated 50min long essay.

Chris Spargo aint bad

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 290d

YouTube made a change to their content curation algorithm a few years ago, which favors longer videos, because they can fit more ads into those. As a result, even topics that could be perfectly covered in shortform videos get documentary-length videos.

But actually creating a densely packed documentary is a lot of work, so instead you get three intros, an unboxing, a tasting and half a life story for a video on how to bake a bread.

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 7 pts · 290d

TBH I mostly watch YouTube videos for entertainment, videos being 40 min. long is a good thing.
