It really hurts when the unspeakable terrors of the night try to use family to get to me. I feel so unheard, so unseen. I woukd feel much more validated if they just imitated an ex ive still got feels for or something.

There's a guy on YouTube doing videos about his haunted apartment "but the rent is really, really really cheap!" Part of the gag is that there's a doppelganger that keeps trying to talk him into going into the basement, and will try to trick you too. The bit is all kinds of craziness, it's pretty fun.

YES!!! I appreciate you finding that. I'm between patients on sketchy mobile so it's hard to find things sometimes.

No problem! I just watched it the other day, so I just had to check my history.

I scold the skinwalker for wasting his talents trying to get a subpar meal instead of taking up acting. He internalizes this advice, and after eating me travels to Hollywood, where his shapeshifting and perfect mimicry ignite a legal and ethical firestorm around stolen roles that makes the current arguments about AI look tame.

Prologue: Magic died at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London after a precise photograph of the Moon was recorded, seen, and accepted as reality by the general public. Now, with the emergence of generative AI, diffusion models have loosened the public's hold on reality, magic, and all the associated rewriting of history, is reëmerging.

This is the gag in From. Pretty good show.

Codename_goose@sh.itjust.works · 21 pts · 284d (2 replies)

It doesn’t have to be a gag per say, as the situation can occur when a skinwalker (native America folk creature) has its eyes on you and wants to eat you it will use your own family against you to have you leave the safety of your home to eat.

bitjunkie@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 283d (1 reply)

It's actually written "per se". It's Latin for "by or in itself; intrinsically".

Codename_goose@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 283d

Good catch. Thanks. I haven’t had to actively look at or read Latin in a long time so it’s always good to have someone catch my mistakes.

It's either "This is a gag in From" or "This is the gag from From". OP rode the middle and missed the grammar.

"Are you fucking sorry?"

That reminds me I need to keep watching that show.

Ferrous@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 284d (1 reply)

I really dig it. Take your time, though. Last season ended with a cliffhanger and I dont think any more is coming till late next year.

Gene Wolf's Alzabo, anyone?

The creature calls out to the remaining family members in the voices of the eaten loved ones, and promises them in those same voices that they will be re-united if they just let themselves be eaten. It returns almost every night with the same promise.
