Instead of a soundtrack with ominous Latin chanting, it's just some guy with an acoustic guitar.

Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 262d

It really gives new meaning to the Newsboys song "God's Not Dead."

Eat it, Nietzsche.

MagnyusG@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 262d

at a strip mall where it's surrounded by Mediterranean and Asian restaurants, a liquor store, and a mobile phone repair shop.

Not all protestants are boring like that. This has very "so-called 'non-denominational' protestant" energy to it. Quite different from an Anglican, or Calvinist, or Presbyterian, or Methodist church.

very_well_lost@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 262d

Episcopalianism is basically just Catholicism where the pastor is (openly) gay.

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 262d (1 reply)

It's not about being boring. Protestantism came into existence out of protest, because the Catholic church was accepting money to lower the punishment for sins.
Without this money, you're less likely to build elaborate cathedrals. But I imagine, it's also a matter of not wanting to indulge in the same gluttony as the Catholic church.

Zagorath@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 262d

Sure, but there's a big difference between an austere Calvinist church and fold-up chairs in a rented hall often used by so-called "non-denominational" (a term I absolutely hate, because it's just a lie) churches.

Thanks for the clarification - that's good to know

Mormon Dark Souls: slight variations of the same map over and over. And you take damage from the scratchy carpet walls. Boss level maps are different and cool but everyone's dressed like bakers for some fucking reason.

Invasions could arrive on bikes, wearing a white button-down and slacks.

Here’s a Protestant church, Westerkerk Amsterdam

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 262d (2 replies)

A midwestern Lutheran souls would be too cosmic-horrific.

Skua@kbin.earth · 1 pts · 262d (1 reply)

Hallgrímskirkja in Iceland is a Lutheran church and it's one of the most amazing pieces of 20th century architecture I know of

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 262d

Very cool.

I'm sure it's basement is just as terrifying as every other Lutheran church basement.

Skua@kbin.earth · 6 pts · 262d

The Kingsman church fight scene was actually just concept art for the most horrendous mob fight From has ever devised

::: spoiler Transcription Tweet by Sofia "Buff Girlfriend" @sofiabuffgf:

They should make protestant Dark Souls where instead of cathedrals it's just like regular rooms with folding chairs :::

v4ld1z@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 262d

And thanks for the transcription :)

So, The Surge? Granted it's futuristic tech chairs

Flickerby@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 261d

Carrying multiple chairs requires a minimum STR of 18 but every maiden refers to you as "that strong guy" for the next meeting.

Is anyone else getting bombarded by these ads recently?

AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 258d

I mean, everyone in Dark Souls is already like crazy old, so there's that.

chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 261d

Rooms? How about tents with folding chairs and a barbecue outside?
