Ma'am, this is not Reddit where you complain about Facebook. This is Lemmy where you complain about Reddit.

scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech · 18 pts · 235d

I thought we all decided by the transitive property that we could complain about both and it would somehow both mean fuck reddit

OpenStars@piefed.social · 9 pts · 235d

There is enough hate to go around - fuck them both:-).

My mother keeps spending 11 hours a day in Facebook and then sending me random shit from it.

Everyone always tries to pinpoint when Facebook got terrible. I was there for it. I remember it. While it happened over time the instant it was uncool and lame was when the first parent signed up.

The moment it was over for me was when my mother sent me a friend request.

It started even earlier than Facebook was publicly released as a product - looking into its history, it started literally before the very first line of code was ever written. (I'm not being hyperbolic, it literally started with a scam, then continued with several additional scams, and so on - I mean, I was not there, but reportedly so.)

Facebook is the devil Bobby!

Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe · 11 pts · 235d

What's a Facebook?

(Yes, /s. I've never even been to the website, let alone had an account).

this@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 234d

Ah yea I see the problem here. The issue is caused by having a Facebook feed.

OP be like:

Donkter@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 234d (4 replies)

It's weird how consistent this is. It's always about ungratefulness, so it must be a common cause.

Is it just boomers being mad that their children told them they're being lied to by their phones?

Flocklesscrow@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 234d

Yes

Asidonhopo@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 234d (1 reply)

Mostly convinced it's a psyop, thank Cambridge Analytica and Putin's goons.

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 234d

No, I got family that are definitely not Russians posting cringey shit exactly like this all the time.

nagaram@startrek.website · 2 pts · 234d

Its something I've become quite judgemental of

"Loyalty" "ungrateful" "respect" "drama" and "hustle" are words I associate now with assholes who have nothing going on in their lives and are certainly the problem.

Its been so nice not being exposed to that pointless negativity thanks to deleting my Facebook.

Unironically though.

WanderWisley@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 235d

And boomer minion memes.

goodboyjojo@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 234d (1 reply)

Facebook sucks. The only thing worth anything on the platform is maybe marketplace or interesting groups.

nagaram@startrek.website · 0 pts · 234d

Marketplace is just a continuation of our failed consumerist system by letting us recycle trash that should never have been produced but we justify because its "thrifty"

Binturong@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 234d

If you're on facebook you deserve what you get, and also are addicted to whatever abuse you perceive that as.

Middle aged, as in millennials?

This seems like some boomer shit

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 234d

It's 2025, why do you have a "Facebook feed" at all

HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip · -13 pts · 235d (7 replies)

Idk, I feel like this should be marked NSFW. Lots of folks have needle phobias

Eheran@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 235d (4 replies)

And other people arachnophobia, etc. etc. This is not NSFW.

HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 235d

That's fair, I personally find spider pictures are generally not as viscerally upsetting as seeing a needle about to enter an arm would be to some, my sister included. Now something from the game Limbo or a spider that is in the act of doing something frightening I could see, I guess my issue is with the implied action and how I've seen people react to that

Edit: I guess -> I personally find

tdawg@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 235d (2 replies)

pretty sure drug use could easily be nsfw

Eheran@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 235d (1 reply)

This is about as much drug use as these soldering pictures where they hold the iron at the hot tip.

Septimaeus@infosec.pub · 1 pts · 234d

That requires a lot of drugs, in my friend’s experience.

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 234d

Why don't we wrap the entire world in bubble wrap

OpenStars@piefed.social · 3 pts · 235d

On PieFed there are hashtags and keyword filtering. On Lemmy... I guess there is only the block button (for the user account or entire community).
