If it would "destroy the global order" then the global order needs to be destroyed.

gustofwind@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 250d

It also just wouldn’t and that basically makes no sense at all other than to communicate some kind of incomprehensible fear

IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 249d

the only relevant technicality is that the global order wont destroy itself when it needs to. we gotta do it

Bullerfar@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 249d

Thw global order died when America turned "America first" aka. Maga 9 years ago.

Nobody ever bothers to clarify if "tanks on the streets" is a prediction or a threat...

There is a scandal brewing in Sweden about this.

Apparently Princess Sofia had contact with Epstein through a Swedish businesswoman (who looks like a clown/hag, see attached), Sofia is keeping a very low profile due to this, and did not attend the Nobel Prize Party this year...

The Swedish businesswoman in question, Barbro Ehnbom who had ties with Epstein:

Epstein was a major fundraiser for the Democratic party. Trump is the head of the Republican party. And it's a two party system.

SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 29 pts · 250d (2 replies)

But but but they're closer to not being overwhelmingly evil! They'll defund ICE once they've got a supermajority in the house and senate, the presidency, and patiently wait for the Supreme Court to die.

"America! Take a good look at your beloved candidates! They're nothing but hideous space reptiles pedophiles!"

"It's true, we are aliens pedophiles, but what are you going to do about it? It's a two-party system."

He specifically fundraised for democrats?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relationship_of_Bill_Clinton_and_Jeffrey_Epstein

Epstein's interactions with Clinton can be traced to the early 1990s. After donating $1,000 to Bill Clinton's presidential election campaign in 1991, Epstein donated $10,000 to the White House Historical Association in 1993 and, accompanied by Maxwell, attended a donors' reception hosted by President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton.

...

Clinton and Epstein appeared to be on friendly terms; a photo from 2002 shows them together during a stop in Brunei, and in an interview that year Clinton praised Epstein as a "highly successful financier" and "a committed philanthropist".

...

According to one of his lawyers, Epstein was "part of the original group" that conceived the Clinton Global Initiative, a flagship program of Clinton's philanthropic work. This relationship extended to Maxwell as well – she and Epstein were invited guests at events early in the Clinton Foundation era, and Maxwell was noted as the likely social "glue" connecting Epstein to Clinton's world.

Oh, that's not at all what you implied.

That definitely does apply to Epstein, I'll grant them that.

Am I the only person that doesn't care about this? The age of consent in most other countries is 14/15 anyway. Even in the US there are states where what they did wouldn't be a crime. I'd rather the government focus on real issues like student loan debt forgiveness and the unemployment crisis.

Tell us more how you're okay with rape.

HikingVet@lemmy.ca · 57 pts · 250d

*organized child rape.

marcos@lemmy.world · 47 pts · 250d

A more general name for "human traffic" is "slavery". It's way more than rape.

look up Abu Ghraib

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 29 pts · 250d (3 replies)

What does the torture camp have to do with child rape? Either way, both are bad.

Lorfan@lemmy.world · -35 pts · 250d (2 replies)

you have to care about both the same amount otherwise you're a hypocrite

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 20 pts · 250d

That's absurd. I hate the US empire and the various crimes against humanity it's committed, including the crimes of Abu Graib. But the human trafficking and child rape committed by billionaires and politicians worldwide is a huge fucking problem.

Knoxvomica@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 250d

Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 250d (2 replies)

Gonna ignore your little pedophile red flags, but just wanted to say you DO know that those are different departments right? The FBI going after these people would have zero effect on unemployment or debt forgiveness.

Lorfan@lemmy.world · -18 pts · 250d (1 reply)

Yeah but the media circus around this issue takes away from time we could be spent focusing on issues that I'm interested in talking about.

Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 250d

That YOU are interested in? Well fuck all the victims I guess, random Internet guy isn't "interested"

paperazzi@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 249d

Do you even know the meaning of consent? Age aside, trafficked people are not consenting. It's called rape.

BCsven@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 249d

Age of consent in some places can be low, but then it carries a stipulation of the number of years older the other party can be. I.e. at 14 a person could consent to somebody 2 years older, but not 3 etc.

Traffic children's across state lines or countries for sex is also a crime.

In the unredacted version of the redacted files, epstein was also being charged with threatening victims if they spoke of it.

tlekiteki@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 250d (11 replies)

Consensual prostitution is fine. The problem is the blackmail ring.

The conventional theory: in order to be elected to Federal office in the States, you have to be selected by a party (primary elections are rigged, as we saw with Bernie Sanders). The parties only select candidates they can control, whether that is by secret videos or something else.

Lorfan@lemmy.world · -22 pts · 250d (10 replies)

The blackmail thing I agree with but I do find it funny that people from a country that spent 20 years bombing kids in the desert never cared about those kids then but now suddenly they're so moral.

People should focus more on issues that matter. Like UBI or the employment crisis. I wouldn't be surprised if this is being used as a distraction by politicians so they don't have to address real problems. It's like rome's bread and circuses.
