I believe I, and any Canadian, have every right to kill a person who represents a foreign (hostile)government, and tries to abduct me, or those I care about in my country. As they do not represent my government, I believe I’m free and clear.
No authority?
No process?
It is then an act of war, and we should respond accordingly with deadly force.
Just sayin.

This is one of the first times I’ve heard a Canadian threatening without saying sorry first.
Shit must be gettin’ tough

We are polite…..until we aren’t. That’s how the Geneva Convention was created.
usernamefactory@lemmy.ca · 19 pts · 204d
The most polite people I know are also the most willing to stand up against wrong doing when the time comes. They are they way they are because they value good prosocial behaviour, they're willing to sacrifice their own convenience for it, and they're willing to defend it.
shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works · 21 pts · 204d
Fuckin eh
corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 204d
Well. I mean, attempt armed arrest anyway and hope they don't start shooting. That's just polite.
MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 204d
As they are not empowered by a Canadian government, they may not carry firearms unless they have an express act to do so. This may in fact be the case under a blanket act for border agents. We should review that…
CarolusRex@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 203d
I agree, foreign agents seeking to subvert Canadian sovereignty, their life is forfeit as long as they are operating on Canadian soil. They shouldn't have any legal protections either if their objective is to destabilize the country or attack our sovereignty.

And a whole new array of gun laws will be passed after the fact to ensure no more peasant revolts occur.

A nail in a board works just fine.

Good luck with that.

One man with a nail in a board is how it starts... Soon enough it's hundreds with boards and nails.

"That board with a nail in it may have defeated us, but the humans won't stop there. They'll make bigger boards and bigger nails, and soon, they will make a board with a nail so big, it will destroy them all!"

Don't be
MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 204d
The only peasant revolt in Canada is a bunch of privileged right-wing traitors who want to join the weak minded drones that follow Trump. Losers, every last one of them. I should know.
They should be executed (tolerance except for the intolerant).

Canadians are chomping at the bit here to get a reason to go burn down the Whitehouse again.

It's "champing" at the bit.

Champing at the bit sounds dumb af tbh and I've never heard it before IRL compared to chomping.
wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 203d
It's chomping, referring to the bit that goes in a horses mouth. If it chomps, it means it's eager. Hence, chomping at the bit means someone is eager.

From a grizzled, old, Scottish WWII veteran: “Young Man, I’ll tell ya something I learned in the war, never, ever underestimate those Canadians! They are the toughest soldiers I encountered in the war.”
FTR: he also said he thought Germans were pansies, lol.
Dead now, but he was a tough SOB, himself (I mean, he WAS Scottish, so that’s a pedigree right there).
LeFantome@programming.dev · 3 pts · 204d
Many of us Canadians still have some Scottish blood. And I bet it works as well as it ever did.

You all need to be pressing your government to declare ICE a terrorist organization so that you can bar entry of any current or former member into the country.
Alloi@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 204d
we have ICE offices in canada, in a bunch if our major cities, including ottawa. our capital.

Yeah. You might want to try to correct that.

Because if they did I'd have the right to kill them as an invading force. Fuck ice may they all die.
avidamoeba@lemmy.ca · 22 pts · 204d
Aha, so baaically if you get snatched and dragged into the US for suspected violation of US law, the American legal system is okay with it and you have limited avenues to defend yourself. Canada would have to "convince" the US to let you go. In other words, exercise higher caution around ICE than our neighbours do.
LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 204d
There is no rule of law here. :( we have do much with to do :(
rozodru@piefed.world · 20 pts · 204d
I'd love to see them try. And I think many Canadians are also chomping at the bit to "see America try". Lets see how far they get up here.

No. But if there's no body there's no murder.

I don't care. I'm not an American gimp. I'll help a person being kidnapped or harassed in Canada. If it's a US MAGA Nazi fuck, they'll get a mother fucking double-double. I'll take the chance.
Fuck ICE.

Fact of the matter is if ICE wanted to round up Canadians, most local police, at least in Alberta, would be helping to support ICE operations while making a canned statement on TV about the legality of their actions.

What a dumb fucking point. Clickbait article.
"Here’s a scenario: Minnesota shares a border with Canada. Let’s say a stream of undocumented people decided to make a run for Sprague, Manitoba. Let’s say they somehow end up on the other side. ICE isn’t happy about it, and, on this day, agents decide to ignore the fact there’s a border."
Ok... I could find a place and just cross the border illegally too. Maybe me and a whole bunch of people.
It doesn't mean it's okay and that there won't be any repercussions....
