The official Introduction to Github page included an AI-generated graphic with the phrase "continvoucly morged" on it, among other mistakes.

Morge (v): To add AI-generated slop to a previously unsoiled codebase.
luciferofastora@feddit.org · 10 pts · 181d
Morge continvoucly is to set up automatic slop generation tooling or to flood a codebase with slop PRs
degen@midwest.social · 2 pts · 180d
I like to think of if it as "mogging" the codebase with the sigma branch
db2@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 181d
Continvoucly.

I mean what's the point of morging if you're gonna do it intermittoucly?
pipe01@programming.dev · 48 pts · 181d
It's morging time
fonix232@fedia.io · 16 pts · 181d
And then he morged all over the place!
Cleaning up the morge conflicts took us a whole freaking week...
Bombastic@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 180d
I morged about a morgillion times already
borth@sh.itjust.works · 36 pts · 181d
It's the exact same image that was sloppified, so why did they even generate one to begin with?

Commentary from the author of the original git flow image that was morged over Tim here: https://nvie.com/posts/15-years-later/

Thanks for the link. It annoys me that even "good" journalism (PC Gamer) didn't quote him correctly; stripping the tags obfuscated the original tone.

I absolutely love the fact that we'll most likely never get rid of stuff like that in AI generated content. There will always be things that are wrong/wonky with it.
The problem is when they start making it acceptable to the masses
Hadriscus@jlai.lu · 16 pts · 180d
What is it with people delegating the simplest things to AI ? it's a graphic with dots and lines and a little bit of text ffs, just do it yourself like a big boy
(and even then, how do you not proofread something like this?)
pulsey@feddit.org · 14 pts · 180d
even worse: the original could've just been used with appropriate attribution. It's even easier than generating an image.
Benaaasaaas@group.lt · 8 pts · 180d
But you see it's more difficult than just saying "generate me github flow readme"
Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 12 pts · 181d
Why did this happen? Like in what circumstance does it make sense to delete tge originals and replace them with slop?
fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 11 pts · 181d
Im guessing they wanted to make the screenshot a little more modern with solid colors, solid arrows and plain white backgrounds.

Going backwards in Tim makes complete sense. You just don't morge enough to understand.
dangercake@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 180d
Fine but has anyone asked Tim how they felt about it

There you go, kids! Behold, The Future(TM)!
Having RAM prices skyrocket 9000% and all the ecological destruction was totally worth it for a future that's continvoucly morged!

Wait, I saw that image without context. You’re telling me it wasn’t satire?
