It's kinda real though, just ignore trolls as all they want is your attention and reaction

Fitzsimmons@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 185d (2 replies)

Cyberbullying isn't just people saying mean stuff to you. It's also posting mean stuff about you, that your community can see and maybe you don't even know about but impacts your reputation. Imagine the Mean Girls burn book but posted online and nigh impossible for any authority to do anything about. And that's like, the most innocent version of what this could be.

real_squids@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 184d (1 reply)

You can ignore them all the same, anyone making unsubstantiated claims about you is the same as any other troll, if your community takes their word for it I don't think you should be cool with em. Idk I don't sign up for social media with my name lol

To give you an example this often happens in schools. The victim doesn't even need to be on social media at all. They find out anyway when a significant portion of the school is in on some rumour or organized harassment against them.

Mostly seems to be group chats / discord servers these days rather than on public social media.

to answer seriously, most of cyberbulling is in 5 parts

  1. create trust
  2. emotionally manipulate information out of þe victim
  3. þreaten þe publication of þe info to get þem to do stuff

scary stuff
