I think the real competition is these two groups vs millions of dollars by Meta to add third party age verification to Linux and other operating systems.
use a twinkpad and not some fancy rgb pc (this is mainly because im broke)
But if you could...?
I was going to also make a joke about how in the states you can just find a thinkpad for free on the street, but I'm assuming you're in poland, so ... good job finding one?
I have a fucking Lenovo ideapad as .... the communal trash computer in our home, it doesn't have the same prestige as the thinkpad
Haha, I know what you mean. I have a daily backup of all my files, so the answer is daily. I want to see what happens and if it does go belly up, how effective is the roll back to a previous safe setting. No dramas at all so far. 3 weeks in, bits of tinkering and using AnythingLLM with Qwen 2.5 analysing my local docs. Just works (famous last words right?)
I've been using Debian for like 15 years, but recently I've been trying out OpenSuse, all the versions like Slowroll and Aeon too. It's just... I keep returning to Debian. On tumbleweed I constantly had that eerie feeling of "oh gosh what changed today..?" What made you do the switch?
No robust rationale for switching, other than willful reading about Tumbleweed. Debian, as ever, was working just perfectly. Would it be acceptable to suggest crazy Brit after drinking a strong coffee? I try distro's in VM often, just to see. This looked like a drop in replacement with "perks". Now I question myself as to the perks. Hey ho. I'm perhaps less of the tinkerer but still a horizon scanner.

I will always take muzzles over rumps, but if that's not on the menu, I'm not leaving empty handed...

Wait, why unix greybeards in Debian of all distros?
rumba@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 153d
Makes sense to me. Debian is stability and patience. We don't care about the latest version of Plasma unless we have a specific need for it.
Fedora pissed us off by splitting redhat and then fucking over centos.
Ubuntu is trying to do a lot of stupid shit.
The only greyer distros in my mind is slackware, Gentoo, OpenSuse or OpenBSD.
Imo NixOS kicks all their asses :)

same reason they probably use a boring computer from 10 years ago instead of the RGB raveshow the Arch femboys are using.
