Pissing of the Catholics is a great recipie for getting your party elected come the midterms, especially with a side of blasphemy.

It seems like more american catholics have their allegiances with Trump than with the Pope for some weird fucking reason.

Here we go again, yet another schism.

you'd think god would come down and endorse one of the 44+ thousand sects that already exist.

Statistically, the Vatican has more than two Popes per square kilometer. How many sane presidents per square kilometer does the US have?

Lodespawn@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 149d

About 10.2μL/km^2^

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 149d

American Catholics do not care about the pope.

They think of the pope as a politician.

Doomsider@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 149d

Thank God they don't consider Trump a politician. Just a honest man divinely inspired to do what is right.

HubertManne@piefed.social · 2 pts · 149d

I mean most every leader was put into office specifically becuase of him. I mean since his birth they immediately started making decisions based on his eventual rise. Heck even the prophesies and legends of his coming...

I mean, someone once said the world would only see an American pope if America's position in the world severely changed. It makes sense; I can see where having America as powerful as it is plus that connection to the Vatican could be an issue.

Guess who severely changed America's position in the world
