I'm on team Occam's Razor on this. We don't need complicated conspiracy theories to explain why people keep shooting at the most unpopular and destructive man on Earth.
They did shit at Trumps assassination attempt in 2024. I mean covering all rooftops is like the very first thing you gonna do.
Unless the SS didn't cover that rooftop on purpose, cos the whole attempt was faked.
They don’t really know who he was after but he got through the security checkpoint by running past it…hardly seems like highly trained bodyguards if merely running can get you past them.
You’re right, the only thing what amazes me is that how are people with so much guns so fucking bad at using it? They wouldn’t even hit the barn door unless there’s some school kids standing there.
Occam's razor is actually talking that theory with fewest assumptions is likely correct.
So let's see:
the whole block where hotel is located was off limits, an armed guy somehow had no problems going through that to get to the hotel, carrying handgun, shotgun and knives he somehow convinced police that he supposed to be at the event
when charging through metal detector they somehow managed to stop him without even wounding him, at somebody was brave enough to drop their gun and tackle a guy who supposedly shot at USSS
no shotgun visible on the camera footage
also, no other camera footage
trump who was skipping every WHCD event decided to attend the one where a reporter supposed to receive an award for publishing his birthday card (taking about "beautiful secrets") to Epstein
from the leak 3 days earlier we learned that trump was planning to leave the event early after giving a speech, fortunately for him the whole event (where the award should be given) was cancelled
a coincidence that it comes at convenient time when everyone realized he fucked us up with Iranian war and is unable to unfuck it, but at least no one talks about
a coincidence that it happens right during primaries that didn't look good for him
they had access to his manifesto almost immediately
vs
Have a guy run into lobby and claim he was a shooter to disrupt the event
claim he shot USSS agent in the bulletproof vest (who can prove that didn't happen when this admin controls everything)
It's not about you. It's about online individuals validating their echo chamber the same way MAGA people do. Same people; different ends of a spectrum.
They just really need to believe it is so to the point that they'll dive into whatever narrative well before there's any information to critically analyse Sound familiar, huh?
I think a lot of people are just hoping for a particular headline to signify a change from this relative insanity and don't care if it's not a double filet-o-fish that finally does it.
the same way MAGA people do. Same people; different ends of a spectrum.
They just really need to believe it is so to the point that they'll dive into whatever narrative well before there's any information to critically analyse
I've been downvoted to shit this morning for daring to question this apeshit conspiracy theory, so for many it's dead serious. They've been blowing up my inbox with angry replies.
I would just ignore the inbox. It has become so cheap to create automated fake accounts that what you see on the internet doesn't reflect reality. On well-funded platforms like Reddit these misinformation bots need to at least act like rational individuals, but claiming to be a far-left liberal is enough for free reign on Lemmy.
It sucks, but the Internet is still adapting to this new technology. I try not to let perceived peer pressure determine anything about me.
Some are bots, but others are real people that were influenced by the bots . The Asch Conformity Experiments suggest that up to 35% of the population will adopt what they perceive to be the majority opinion.
In psychology, the Asch conformity experiments were a series of studies testing the Asch paradigm, directed by Solomon Asch, studying if and how individuals yielded to or defied a majority group and the effect of such influences on beliefs and opinions.
Groups of eight male college students participated in a simple "perceptual" task. In reality, all but one of the participants were actors. On the first two trials, both the subject and the actors gave the obvious, correct answer. On the third trial, the actors would all give the same wrong answer.
It makes sense, our inputs are imperfect and our brains are always interpreting and correcting. As a social species we use other people's perceptions as another error correction method. We missee, mishear, misread, misremember… regularly
An annual event that was attended by all presidents and that was attended by trump for the very first time as a president. An event that 3 days earlier we got a leak that he will be trying to leave earlier, the event where a reporter supposed to receive an award for publishing trump's birthday card to Epstein.
Excuse me when I'm skeptical about it.
Also can somebody tell me why is somebody who supposedly was with handgun, shotgun and knives running through metal detector and somehow being apprehended without even being wounded? Did somebody tackled such armed individual?
Yeah, social media already fuels this for quite some time, the more we are habituated to extremism, the extremer extremism gets (or something along these lines).
It's kinda sad, that this is once again nationalism/authoritarianism and not something that actually makes sense to get "extreme" about like fighting climate-change (and the main culprit companies...), this is actually a reason to get angry about...
No if they were real he'd be with Charlie by now. You don't put zero effort into training when you're likely to be killed. If you want to go down in history, you put in the effort
So tired of this "false flag" nonsense. Is it so hard to believe there are plenty of people who would want this corrupt despot dead? The worst part is how incompetent they are. I hope we will be rid of the orange menace soon
Exactly. The left has been largely calling against violence since the green scare. Where we have been supportive of violence has been the anti fascist street fights, not stuff like mass shootings, any bombing whatsoever, or assassination.
The right by contrast has been increasingly advocating to prepare for armed violence against the government and the left since Ruby Ridge.
It's not that we don't believe people want him dead, it's that the way the people around him have been talking about it is...weird. Especially that UFC guy.
As much as I'd like this wannabe-Hitler gone, I don't think he deserves to be a martyr, which he likely will be for this brain-dead MAGA crowd, once he's gone unnaturally.
I think it'll be better he dies an (ideally unhonorable) natural death, better soon than late...
People in country where shit like this happens literally every single day, can't believe it when it happens to the most high profile, unpopular, piece of shit person who actually deserves it in the country...
The US practically breeds these people. The only reason any president survives their term is because killing someone surrounded by highly
trained bodyguards 24/7 is harder than shooting up a school full of unarmed children.
Exactly. The idea that it's a fake assassination or that the guy was "in on it" is silly. You just wait until you have someone that is actively on the FBIs watch list actually try it. Then just let them get close enough to make the news.
Or you know about it and let it happen in a controlled scenario. However, if this guy winds up dead or missing awaiting trial, i wouldn’t discount this being staged and the loose ends fixed.
Or you know about it and let it happen in a controlled scenario.
Yeah. Sorry, I could have worded that better. This is literally what I meant. The guy was probably being monitored for a long time and was allowed to get as close as he did. Maybe a little closer since he literally ran like a bullet. Lol
You don't even have to. All you need is a guy running into lobby, doesn't even have to be armed.
I'm still trying to understand how he could get in the hotel with shotgun, handgun and knives, when the whole block was off limits. I guess you could hide handgun and knives, but you won't exactly fit a shotgun into a pocket.

Though I would like an explanation on why they keep failing spectacularly when a random kid took out Charlie Kirk with one shot.

You've got a point. Real body guards would have shot him as he was sliding out of his mamma's birth canal.

Because shooting a gun in a real situation is nothing like a gun range.
