Hannah Montana Linux. FTFY

violentfart@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 98d (2 replies)

My Windows 10 setup was extremely optimized and my favorite OS.

I use Linux for my daily driver now, but every so often I have to dig out my (air gapped) Windows 10 laptop to do something and it’s just… nice.

Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip · 25 pts · 97d

I'm sorry you lost your nice setup that you liked. I hope we see the day that you're able to have a setup you love just as much, that treats you well :)

ZombieCyborgFromOuterSpace@piefed.ca · 8 pts · 97d

I really liked Windows 10 too. I loved the ergonomics of the desktop. The start menu with tiles was brilliant. The flat square windows that use every pixel of your screen. The close button that takes the whole corner.

I could swing my mouse around and click without looking and knew exactly what I was hitting.

Then after a few years they enshittified it just before Windows 11.

Can I rice my drugs?

siha@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 94d

You can lace your drugs with rice

testaccount789@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 97d (1 reply)

What if it's something cursed like Proxmox on a laptop with KDE Plasma installed on host, NAT set up for VMs to use WiFi, passing wayland windows over waypipe through vsock and launching programs using manually created shortcuts which start the programs over SSH (because it can be done)?

Broadfern@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 97d

Can’t say I’d personally touch it lmao but if you’re happy with it, then that’s all that matters 😄

ollie@pawb.social · 5 pts · 97d

EXACTLY! we have so many good choices that can work with our individual preferences, use whatever the heck you like!

slazer2au@lemmy.world · 47 pts · 98d (1 reply)

Kinda expecting the right one to be Hannah Montana Linux.

ekZepp@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 98d

Same thing

BurgerBaron@piefed.social · 46 pts · 97d

With the powers combined of Arch and Drugs I remain totally fuckin' average! Checkmate.

i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca · 36 pts · 97d (2 replies)

I dunno if this is very accurate. I run Debian and I’m dumb as shit.

swagmoney@lemmy.ca · 15 pts · 97d

I was gonna fix my backups, but I got high.
I was gonna be able to restore, but then I got high.
Now I lost all my crap, and I know why! (Why man?) Because I got high, because I got high, because I got high.

zarathustrad@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 97d

osanna@lemmy.vg · 22 pts · 97d (6 replies)

There’s a distro called drugs?? I’ve never heard of it

jim3692@discuss.online · 11 pts · 97d (5 replies)

It's actually called NixOS (talking from personal experience)

rain_worl@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 85d (4 replies)

if you prefer drugs on the more legal side try guix :))))

jim3692@discuss.online · 1 pts · 84d (3 replies)

I have read about guix, but I don't see any reason to switch from NixOS. Guix seems to be way less mature than Nix.

Besides this, I have dedicated a ton of time developing a framework that manages flakes on NixOS builds. There is no way I would start from scratch, just to leave systemd.

rain_worl@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 80d (2 replies)

you can place the guix logo on a cake! (citation)
well, nixos has a guide for using their logo, in which they state that you must not put it on a cake (nixos branding guide, page 26), i thought it was a trademark, but they use a creative commons license that allows you to do that (i think) (citation)
but guix lets you take back your freedom! free from the shackles of the corporations!!

also wikipedia articles to read:

jim3692@discuss.online · 1 pts · 80d (1 reply)

So, you are telling me that I should throw my time, developing tools for NixOS, out of the window because I will be more free on how to use a damn logo?

If you really feel the need of putting your favorite distro's logo on a cake, you probably need to touch some grass. Try to have a walk, to meet new people.

I understand, and support, the political aspect of your point, but the cake is a very bad example of the issue.

Just like every year since 2004.

turbowafflz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 97d

DahGangalang@infosec.pub · 16 pts · 97d (2 replies)

Hmmm, I don't think I've ever tried DrugsOS. Can you link to their site?

Siegfried@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 97d (4 replies)

I do this... am i weird? I mean, i am... but am i because of that?

sneezycat@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 97d (3 replies)

Nah, I also do; arch on my desktop and laptop, debian on my server.

Unless... we're both weird... I mean, I'm also weird... but because of unrelated reasons?

Fives@discuss.online · 4 pts · 97d

Exactly. Arch on my laptops and desktop, Debian on my server.

This is the way.

skarn@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 97d

Are you... Me?
