I'd almost bet it's the frame over the machine given the reduced RAM needed

If they're expecting people to use the Frame with the Machine, then they'd probably want the Machine on the market first. I'm not totally clear on the strategy. They obviously made it "standalone", but will there be enough content to release it as such?

I certainly plan to buy it specifically to use with the Machine.

I think their plans got thrown out the window with said RAM and hard drive issues and now they're just trying to make it work.

user_6282638282@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 104d

Makes sense.

cabb@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 31 pts · 104d (1 reply)

You could use the Frame with any other pc too, so no content concerns

Estebiu@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 100d

Yeah, but theoretically the machine is the ideal companion cuz it could boot up automatically when you open the frame, and stream from it

Tattorack@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 103d

I won't be buying the Machine because I have a perfectly good Linux PC as is. I'll be using the Frame with that.

RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 104d

I plan to run the frame off my laptop, don't really need a second computer for it.

That's not consoles, that's cartridges.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 8 pts · 104d

Surely people dumped some 7200s in there.

NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 37 pts · 104d

Maybe they’re stocking up on NeoGeos.

SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org · 17 pts · 104d (3 replies)

Yeah, but they are gonna be super unaffordable to me. Thanks Sam Altman

cenariodantesco@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 103d (2 replies)

don't give up hope, sub 700€

mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 103d

There was never any chance for that. Quit deluding yourself

Lemmchen@feddit.org · 7 pts · 103d

No chance in the current market.

jordanlund@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 104d (4 replies)

Seems more likely to be controllers, not actual consoles.

Dudewitbow@lemmy.zip · 36 pts · 104d (2 replies)

https://en.nbd.ltd/customs-data?t=2&v=Valve+Corporation

wireless game controller is its own option seperate from the game consoles

its clear its not the controller. what is not clear is if the shipments are either steam deck restocks, steam machine, or steam frames.

Stampela@startrek.website · 8 pts · 104d (1 reply)

Wait, let me understand this. Is your link something official? Like, reliable? Because come on Gabe, less time on Aliexpress ordering random valves with the company card!

Dudewitbow@lemmy.zip · 14 pts · 104d

the company search is probably using fuzzy search, so any company that has the term valve, and corporation somewhere in it would show up in the search.

feel free to look up shipping manifests of other companies on it to show examples e.g Nintendo of America

user_6282638282@sopuli.xyz · 18 pts · 104d

I think those were listed specifically as controllers. Here's the previous "leak" :

Gladaed@feddit.org · 8 pts · 103d

They announced their new hardware months ago and it was going to be available soon.

This is normal and expected. And can mean that there is a 6 months wait. Depending on how much stock thay want to have to combat stalkers.

Gerudo@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 104d (1 reply)

If true, shadow drop on controller launch day.

Or not, who the fuck knows.

mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 103d

I doubt they'd shadow drop it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they announced it then

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 104d

Summer Sale release?

cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de · 6 pts · 104d

Whatever it is, I'll buy it.
