He really captures the vapid, ho-hum, space cadet, business-as-usual, "this is fine" look in his eyes.
Pepper-spraying people isn't an "of course" event. It's an off-course event. This part of the world is broken — and anyone who takes blithe satisfaction and daily pay from it is a broken person.
I wonder how cheaply and effectively you could make a high powered fan rig/battery backpack thing that would move air fast enough to change the direction of this spray
Here I am over-engineering the revolution, when we already have airzooka.
This is actually the play I think. You know how ridiculous it would look to flee from a battalion of airzooka-men? Not only that, but it's be iffy to have just a few of these, but a couple hundred?
In America a lot of us are given firearms before middle school, unfortunately not all of us have responsible adults teaching us they’re not toys or fashion accessories. We allow ourselves access to lethal tools but teach no responsibility and give the worst ones a badge to shield them from any consequences of their recklessness and bloodthirst.
I agree it needs to be powerful, but this is like the comments people make about electric cars being weak. Battery powered is the most effective option for a high powered device, at least one that needs to ramp up quickly. One of the best things about electric motors is how much torque they can provide, and at a moment's notice. Sure, it might be heavy if you want it to last long, but it's easily possible.

Wow
Incredible shot

It is, I don't know how he stayed calm enough to get that focus on the eyes of his attacker.
And yet...
I can't not say it ...
"Eh, looks like the fascist coward pretty much couldn't miss, with the way that spray spreads out over his victim. A mediocre shot at best."

Probably pulled focus as the dickhole was getting ready to spray, did a burst shot, and picked the best out of the group

Can you burst shot with flash on modern cameras? Honest question, I don't professional photography
mech@feddit.org · 9 pts · 94d
Yes, but don't do that for portrait photography if you want to keep your job.
hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 94d
That's fair 😂
9point6@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 94d
I've got a bottom-of-professional level Sony flash that can strobe up to 10 times a second for 4 seconds.
I can only imagine that would be like a diet flashbang at close range, so I hope he did indeed burst

It's expected nowadays for mirrorless pro cameras to recognize eyes and autofocus on them.

If books still exist in the future, this'll be in the historic photos from this era.
This is the kind of photo that does damage to their reputation.
Pictures are powerful, and this one is very much so.

picking up an airzooka and making it thwomp would 100% get you shot

Peaceful, unarmed, polite compliance 100% gets you shot. If you’re going to do something, bring something that matches what you’re up against.

The spray is expected to work in strong winds, so anything battery-powered won't work.

Battery powered leaf blowers can blow air at 200MPH. They even make backpack variants to carry a large battery

Those can be dangerous!

The splashes of toxic chemicals look almost exactly like a bunch of embers. Kinda fitting, considering the horrible effect they have

My first impression was that of fiery embers.
