Why just men? Pretty much anyone seeking nature, the outdoors, and some quiet time would like this.

Until sunset, when the big skeeters roll in.

Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world · 45 pts · 64d

I worry that's why the chair is empty. Someone got carried off by one of the larger mosquitoes.

FireRetardant@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 64d

I defintely know more women that could just sit there and enjoy it than men. Now you add a fishing rod and some cold beers that would level if not completely flip the playing field.

anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 63d

We have day mosquitoes now, even when it’s hot and dry. The brown striped bastards that fucking bite in a row if you don’t catch them.

They arrived 4-5 years ago and now we have to put on bug spray to do practically anything in our yard.

liuther9@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 63d

You wouldn't get it

owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca · 76 pts · 64d (4 replies)

If it's cool enough that the bugs aren't out, then yes definitely.

snooggums@piefed.world · 26 pts · 64d (3 replies)

Yeah, bugs are the one thing that could ruin it.

Otherwise best day ever.

corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 64d

We got my wife's dad like a beekeeper hat for when he goes fishing. We'd like to get him back, you know.

somethingsnappy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 64d (1 reply)

Deet.

mech@feddit.org · 1 pts · 63d

That doesn't remove the buzzing sounds.

teyrnon@sh.itjust.works · 36 pts · 64d (4 replies)

That spot looks like it would be swarming with mosquitoes.

PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk · 7 pts · 64d (2 replies)

Get a small fire going, or a thermacell

Obi@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 63d (1 reply)

I've considered the thermacell before after reading about its supposed wizardry, but I dunno still seems like it can't be that healthy/environmentally friendly. What's your experience?

We have a portable leave-no-trace firepit that does the trick for the evening.

PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 62d

Tbh i've not used them. apparently they're the same thing as mosquito coils though just more... concentrated

As for healthiness. probs more healthy than malaria, or other mosquito born diseases.

As for environmentally friendly. i think the horse has bolted there tbh. have you seen how they're powering some of these data centres?

mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 64d

bug jacket

HeyJoe@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 64d

Absolutely. Not even a doubt. Bring my speaker for some music, a few preroll's, and a 6pk of beer and it would probably be a perfect day.

Crostro@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 64d

Unless there's biting insects

NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 64d (3 replies)

Adhd'er checking in. I wouldn't last ten minutes in that chair before getting up out of boredom.

Andonyx@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 63d (1 reply)

Think of all the rabbit holes you can get into looking up the history of the local flora and fauna. It's a sea of interesting stuff.

NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 63d

I don't get to choose when I hyperfocus and when I get bored 🤣

BlindPenguin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 64d

I may have to get checked...

farmgineer@nord.pub · 10 pts · 64d

Couple of hours is fine, more with a book. Otherwise, I guess I'm the 1%. Oh, and allergy meds first is a requirement

Edit: WTF is autocorrect even doing?!

Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 63d

All day long I'd probably get bored ngl. That looks like a primo reading spot though

ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 64d (1 reply)

Daaaamn, is that a Grosfillex Miami monobloc resin outdoor patio chair in white!?

Andonyx@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 63d

Magnificent.

RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 63d

The mosquitos would ensure that chair remains empty, just like it is now.

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 63d

I guess I'm the 1%.

certified_expert@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 64d (2 replies)

Accoding to the likes, 92% agrees. So maybe not 99%, but still high!

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 63d (1 reply)

I've heard there are other genders on Lemmy than just men

mech@feddit.org · 3 pts · 63d

Adulated_Aspersion@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 63d

Depends on the temperature, humidity, mosquitos, and, of course, snack selection. But yes!

Stern@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 64d

switch me to a adirondack chair and I'm 100% about it.

1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 64d (2 replies)

In our garden I have a bucket with a seat lid. When I love just sitting and watching the plants do their thing

neomachino@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 63d

For me it's the field out behind my barn looking into the woods, I built a nice bench out of left of 2x6. There's an insane amount of bird back there, all different kinds. I'll occasionally see a dead animal along the treeline and know it won't be long until the vultures come and carry it off, it's gruesome but very cool to see nature just doing it's thing.

mech@feddit.org · 1 pts · 63d

Put a hole in the lid and you don't have to get up for any reason.

thatradomguy@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 62d

Too many flies on my face. Not worth it.

ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 64d (1 reply)

Yeah, that looks fucking great, where's the meme?

meowcar42O@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 64d

just appreciate the nice view, zote

qarbone@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 63d

Maybe like 5 to 7 hours, but yeah that's some good sittin

Leviathan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 63d (2 replies)

Me with ADHD: That's pure torture.

Im_old@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 62d (1 reply)

If you have to sit still yes, but a) lots of different twigs to fidget with and b) lots of different/moving things to focus on and let the brain wander on details and scenarios.

Agree all day maybe not, but some time yeah

Leviathan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 62d

I need to do stuff, maybe build something, maybe climb something.

rounding_error@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 64d (2 replies)

I’d last 30 mins tops

dontgogettingtooclever@piefed.social · 7 pts · 64d

is that water fine to swim in? I could swim all day with occasional breaks in the chair. otherwise sounds terrible.

Also, eyeroll at all these mEn WoUld WoMeN wOuLd memes. It's like the bottom of the barrel greeting cards at a chain pharmacy

corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 64d

That used to be me. My wife is teaching me about relaxation as a means of clearing the brain so I can be awesome again. Doing nothing for an hour or two is rough work but I'll get the hang of nothing eventually. I could one day be doing nothing all day.

you_are_dust@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 64d (2 replies)

Looks like a pretty nice spot. Nice and cool in the shade.

All it's missing is the fishing pole.

dr_robotBones@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 63d

Send me there

KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org · 1 pts · 63d

With the proper supplies, of course. A comfier chair, good smoke, at least cold water, perhaps a fishing rod and some lures, some tunes... All day in that chair, as is, probably wouldn't happen with most guys.

Alexstarfire@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 64d

I'd be lucky to last an hour by myself.

mech@feddit.org · 1 pts · 63d (3 replies)

It looks like it's in the middle of a hiking path, so it would be very socially awkward to sit in other people's way all day long.
Literally hell!

Maybe with a fishing rod.
