I also spent some replying

Miller@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 65d

Finite but not fixed, maybe the time spent on this caused me to miss some rendezvous with fate I otherwise had and so gained a great many seconds by it.

Thanks for wasting my time!

This, but serious.

"The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." — Bertrand Russell or something. Also while finite, it is still very big number.

Another point, I am already on lemmy, I am here exactly for this purpose. Gonna read all comments too.

Are you going to read this one?

SuDmit@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 64d

Willdrick@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 64d

Jokes on you, I'm here doubling down, spending more seconds posting this comment:

Have a great and fruitful rest of your life, dear internet stranger!

You were worth every single second

Archimedes@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 65d

Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe · 5 pts · 65d (2 replies)

You bastard, you stole 14 seconds from me! I want them back, do you hear?!

Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 65d

You don't read too good, do ya?

HoneyMustardGas@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 65d

It took you 14 seconds to read that!?!?

actionjbone@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 65d (1 reply)

*is a finite number of seconds

bottleofchips@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 65d

Either is correct because the sentence can be read with either number or seconds as the subject:

There are (a finite number of) seconds…

There is a finite number [measuring the] seconds

At some low point in my life I binge-watched the entirety of "How I Met Your Mother"... Trust me, you cannot hurt me the way I've hurt myself. 😔🤣

spittingimage@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 65d

Seems worthwhile.

It's alright if it's company time.

agentTeiko@piefed.social · 3 pts · 65d

But there are Infinite intervals between second and the next.

smaximov@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 65d

I now spent some more fantasizing about your mom.

I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 65d

Is everything dumb a complete waste of time?

Chaotic_Altruist@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 64d (1 reply)

Always has been.

Conversely, you can do some pretty cool stuff with the (arguable not that important) life you've been given, and you can enjoy wherever you're at.

But nothing anybody ever does will matter that much on a cosmic scale. So no stress.

thethrilloftime69@feddit.online · 1 pts · 63d

Yeah I think the fact that nothing matters makes your subjectivity what actually matters. So you get to decide what is a "waste of time" and what isn't.

LavaPlanet@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 63d

Waste of time, implies time has a dollar value, and that friendly tactic was brought to you by capitalism. Therefore I propose, Waisting your time is anarchy. Imma just stare at the wall, nobody can stop me.

Sergio@piefed.social · 2 pts · 65d

Yeah, but I'm also watching a movie at the same time!
