This is good news. I hope it isn't too late for change on a national scale.

It's good news, and anythings possible, but all 3 branches of government are controlled by fascist criminals and psychopaths. The Epstein class is deeply intertwined with the state and surveillance apparatus, and they openly support genocide, pedophilia, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. There is no bottom to how depraved they will go. Plus roughly 30% — tens of millions — of American adults are terminally mentally ill; as in, most are permanently damaged and will never be rehabilitated or recover from the brainwashing.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. They are already sending antifascists to the gulags for life, for opposing their pedofuhrer.

I'd wager a majority of the 30% could recover, but it would take a massive and sustained effort. Even then there is a percentage that would never change, and America does not have the will to go through the effort.

I agree. Most probably could recover, just like America could have had universal healthcare for decades; just like liberals could have chosen not to side with fascists and construct a turnkey-totalitarian mass surveillance apparatus over the last few decades; just like billionaires could choose to help humanity any time they desire.
Infinity could happen, but in reality the most likely option is the one based on historic evidence. Most of the time you have to fight the status quo to achieve change, no matter how small.

@WhatAmLemmy @henfredemars I'm not sure I can hope for the best at this point. I will vote. I was going to take down the Hungarian ribbon around a big tree (visible from street) but my partner said leave it up. It's up. We've been planning what we could for a long time now. Where'd it get us? We have more dough for musk and chump to steal I suppose.
Malyca@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 42d
Unfortunately it is, we won't get out of this with only votes. But it's a good sign.

Are Americans finally going to learn that politics isn't just a thing that happens every four years?
Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 25 pts · 43d
The moment we become comfortable again will be the same when a third of us drop out of politics. Apathy is a hell of a drug.
I only hope they make voting mandatory like they do in Australia and it becomes too inconvenient not to do it. That should also come with the introduction of ranked choice voting but that's probably asking for the impossible already.

Yup. Our elections are setup to be special events, but people need to realize that politics is a marathon. You have to participate constantly and always be diligent

Let's do Germany next. We were still in the fuck around phase.

Voting for the lesser evil makes sure that the evil stays for long.
US has voted for the greater evil to realise lesser evil is a false choice.

At what cost? For US and the rest of the world.
Not sure the ride worth it, and even not sure it is over.
FuglyDuck@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 43d
Which is not surprising. not in the least bit.
I mean, the only thing that overshadows centrist dem's failings are GOP failings. (though... GOP failings might actually be "success"... just not in a way that's good for the country.)

DSA, all the way.
Once we get power, we walk AND chew gum. Revoke and revert every decision made by the illegitimate Trump regime. All of his donors and nominees/appointees will be imprisoned until they pay back the government the money they made over the pay decade AND the money they've cost the government, all while making for profit healthcare illegal, raising the minimum wage, and taxing the rich.
About 50,000 people are going to be executed, including at least 4 SCROTUS members. The good news is that if you don't have half a billion dollars, and you're not a high level MAGAt, you have nothing to worry about. In fact you'll benefit greatly

Shut up, you stupid genocidal LARPer.

No, progressive Democrats do well in blue areas but not in purple or red areas. That's the reason centrist Democrats fear they will take over the party and that's the reason Republicans want progressives to win.
SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · 4 pts · 43d
Wrong.
Trump was fighting for Bernie Sanders to be his opponent every election because he wanted Bernie to win.
panthera_@lemmy.today · -1 pts · 42d
Sanders is a progressive. Republicans think they have a better chance against a progressive. They wanted Jasmine Crockett to win but Jame Talarico won. Talarico has to move more to the right to win.
From https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/texas-democrats-see-path-to-victory-but-say-talarico-must-broaden-his-appeal/ar-AA26yP1t
"The biggest challenge for Talarico between now and November is walking back many of his votes, social media posts and public statements that position himself well to the left of where the average Texas voter is," said Rice University political scientist Mark Jones.
