A steady stream of beans memes over on lemmy.world, interesting timing.
EDIT:
Since this wasn't clear enough before, the term "normie" is the term chosen by the Dev of Tesseract. In their own words:
https://lemmy.world/post/49817942
To be blunt: Tesseract is designed to attract and retain normies.

tbh the beans meme have always felt omega forced to me
TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 23 pts · 21d
I never found them funny, but I get the appeal of a nonsensical joke pushed to the extreme

Eh, non-sequitur's gonna tenaculum.
festnt@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 20d
kind of like the jeans thing a while back
Quokka@quokk.au · 18 pts · 21d
Agreed. It’s not even funny, at least the moth stuff had good memes.
gandalf_der_12te@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 21d
but it's healthy. beans have lots of protein etc.
ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com · 40 pts · 21d
I guess philosophically, what even is a normie? Can someone who ditches the big popular platforms for this little nuthouse ever really be one?
SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 14 pts · 21d
Sorry, to be clear, I'm using the devs own terminology, and this blocklist they made is ideologically related to what they think "normie" interests are.

yeah this theory doesn't really make sense to me
edit: this seems to be the first post from this 'round' of beanposting https://sh.itjust.works/post/64005127

idk about philosophically, but historically it's a term used by terminally online racist 4chan users to describe people who don't subscribe to their lifestyle. I've always disliked that it became a popular term because I always have that origin in mind.
dadarobot@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 21d
it was a term before that...
Tonuka@feddit.org · 0 pts · 21d
Yes, but before 2000 it was used sparsely and in a dramatically different context than today. I suggest reading the Wikipedia page for "Normie (slang)".
dadarobot@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 21d
where does it mention 4chan?
quit talking out your ass.
dadarobot@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 21d
to put it more politely:
it started being used online in the early 2000s to describe an "outgroup". 4chan was using it basically the same way as everyone else, except their ingroup is racist.
even the wikipedia says as much. the disabled groups and the alcoholics used it to describe an outgroup.
4chan did not invent the term. they just used it like everyone else did.

In the case of that linked post I just trudged through, seems to mean anyone privileged enough to not be fed up with the world in its current state. Aka liberals? Only thing he got right was being pissed at tankies.

I took this meme seriously, and now I'm angry

Beans is old news
SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 21d
You know who else is old news?
snoons@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 21d
Imo the guy'll have to add "beans" to his block list because, to me at least, it's now synonymous with tesserekt.
QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 21d
not really tbh, !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world tends to just post beans any time the sub is too focused on one topic for too long. Last time it was politics that people got tired of.
I just ignore the beans and post like normal
edit: technically it was corn last time and not beans but essentially the same thing lol

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 21d
I can say whatever I like in this comment because you can't read it
krashmo@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 21d
Some people really do go crazy with blocking stuff. I swear they spend more time "curating their experience" than they do actually experiencing anything
Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 21d
Yeah. Especially to that fucking level. Like some people are trollbait or spammers, but entire fucking instances? I've been banned from god knows how many .ml communities and seen stupid shit come out of so many of their mouths, but I'm not filtering .ml
TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 21d
Hehehe, you'll never know that I too talked about how you cannot hear me!

Let the beans breathe. The real challenge isn't keeping it alive for several weeks straight, but making Tesseract hate a long term project. It needs to be brought back semi regularly for years on end to really keep the project from deceiving more people.

I want Queer Star Trek Linux beans
Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 21d
I see your disclaimer. Allow me to provide some evidence of Beans posting.
marcos@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 21d
Nah. People revived beans exactly because it's on the list.
(But then, what isn't? Crossposting, for example is there too.)

Scare quotes exist for a reason, by not using it in the meme you've contributed to their rhetoric
