Strong chance this is the most honorable thing they've done in their lives.

mrdown@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 5d

No, the most honorsble thing would be to chsnge their mind and start being anticolonization and genocide. This is the second best option

and some of the male soldiers that commited SA on palestines got congragulated by one of the prosecuter ministers.

Responding to another comment in this thread that got removed:

Ah yes. Celebrating suicide, that's okay. Saying that the suicidee should instead target those responsible, now that's calling for violence.

Mods, either shutdown this whole post for celebrating murder or leave all the comments up. This half-assed shit is sending the wrong message.

NewDark@lemmy.today · 12 pts · 5d (2 replies)

Question for you. Is it OK to celebrate the deaths of Nazis directly responsible for the holocaust?

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Just as okay as it is to celebrate Hitler's death. Like, dude, I'm saying "treat public figures and soldiers with the same rules". Mods are removing comments wishing for Bibi's death, but they leave those that are celebrating suicides. I'm arguing against the hypocrisy

Lumisal@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 5d

My only guess if they don't want Mossad's attention, if being charitable.

BrikoX@lemmy.zip MOD · 10 pts · 5d (5 replies)

To clarify: celebrating death or even advocating for it when it's targeted at military personnel in general context is allowed in this community. Violence is the primary purpose behind military so everyone is there with an explicit consent.

Doing the same for civilians/elected officials is not (even if they are war criminals).

Lumisal@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 5d (1 reply)

I mean, it's yalls instance so whatever y'all want to do, but just want to make sure, only allowing this for the pawns of the war but not the ones actually running things and commanding said soldiers really gives this vibe:

Especially since nearly every government on the planet, whether truly democratic or completely fascist, true purpose is the monopoly on violence. It's how laws are enforced and control maintained.

mrdown@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 4d

We would also be happy if satanyahu took his own life or any high ranking israeli terrorists

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 4d

Cool. Really fucking weird policy, but I'll respect it. I would like to state that maybe an exception be cut out for suicide, cause I know if I was struggling with ideation and I stumbled upon a thread of people celebrating people completing suicide, it would absolutely fuck me up.

"This is what people will say about you" whispers the depression monster. "Just give the people what they want"

I really don't want anyone hurting themselves

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 4d

This logic is pretty dumb honestly. The elected officials who send soldiers to kill for them are far more culpable than the soldier who is drafted. Civilians with no power? Sure, maybe they shouldn't be called on for being targeted. The people literally giving the orders though? In my opinion they're, in effect, part of the military complex. They aren't literally service members, but they are part of the chain that gives soldiers their orders.

I guess holding child rapists, genocidal cunts, and politicians accountable is unacceptable in the eyes of some.

kurwa@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 5d (7 replies)

Okay bibi

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 5d (6 replies)

I'm saying that Bibi isn't special and celebrating his death should be treated the same as celebrating some nameless IDF soldier's deaths. Do you think that shouldn't be the case? Do you think he's deserving of special protection because of his status or class? Cause the mods seem to think so and I'm calling that behavior out.

kurwa@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 5d (5 replies)

I'm confused, this convo isn't about bibi, I'm saying you are bibi lol

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 5d (2 replies)

... the fuck does that mean?

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 4d

He say you are a Bibi.

kurwa@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 4d

You'll understand when your older

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 4d (1 reply)

You are confused. The comment you replied to was talking about mods removing comments that apply the same outlook of these soldiers to Bibi. Bibi is being protected by the mods. The person you're talking to wants the protecting removed.

kurwa@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3d

Ah, I didn't see the mods removing those comments. It just looked like they were defending the soldiers that offed themselves. So that is my bad.

decolo@piefed.social · 40 pts · 5d

Hopefully they start fragging their coworkers on the way out

NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 21 pts · 5d

Having a conscience is more lethal to them than the children they are “fighting”.

MushuChupacabra@piefed.world · 20 pts · 5d (26 replies)

This should be put into context.

Imagine having a genocidal campaign that is so evil, that the soldiers who lustily signed up for it are unable to tolerate the inhumanity.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 22 pts · 5d (15 replies)

Israel has mandatory military conscription. They throw you in prison if you refuse.

Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 5d

Rather go to prison than participate in genocide

Einskjaldi@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 5d (9 replies)

They can choose to leave

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 5d

My dude, have you ever emigrated? It is not generally an easy not cheap prospect, especially when international borders are involved. My wife and I have been saving for years to emigrate and realized we'd be better served just going off grid.

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 5d

They should switch sides or do sabotage instead.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 5d

Are you sure they can? I'd assume they'd get arrested trying to leave.

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 4d (5 replies)

That's not easy or cheap do to, especially for young adults who grew up in a propaganda machine that wouldn't make those options known. At the bare, absolute minimum though, they should be firing at the ground or otherwise hurting the war effort. Not having tires inflated all the way, dropping some sand into the engine's motor oil, not charging drone batteries properly, giving bad intel to send squads into circles.

mrdown@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 4d (4 replies)

Isis terrorists was also propagandized too, nazis soldiers was also propagandized. Stop with the dumb excuses

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 4d (3 replies)

American's were also propagandized after 9/11. Trust me, it's not fun being the only one in your highschool who thought we were moving too fast into war.

mrdown@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 4d (2 replies)

People celebrate Russians dying on lemmy we never see apologist like you when it happen. If someone get propagandized in believe settler colonialism and genocide is fine then that person go help doing more colonialism and genocide by serving the colonization forces you deserve to be killed or taking your own life unless they truly repent by becoming an anti colonisation and genocide activist

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 4d

Don't take what I said as apologizing for propagized Israelies. The ones that the propaganda didn't work in though don't have many options though. I pity those few though because I don't see this ending well for them.

MushuChupacabra@piefed.world · -1 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Israel has mandatory military conscription. They throw you in prison if you refuse.

Being disobedient to Royalty just prior to the French Revolution. They threw people in prison, or worse.

Tell me more about unbreakable rules, and how dissent is impossible.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 3 pts · 4d

It's not impossible. It's just important to take into account that not everyone will choose to be locked in a cage and repeatedly raped, possibly killed, when given the option.

mrdown@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 4d (1 reply)

Russians have it worse if they refuse to serve. We don't hesr your bullshit about them

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 4d

What? Of course, that's equal.

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 5d (1 reply)

That's actually why the Nazis created the concentration camps. Regular soldiers couldn't cope with doing the genocide themselves, so they got their sociopaths to run the camps and had them do it.

impairedimperator@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 5d

No, the more interesting part of the data is that even the true believer psychopaths in the SS couldn't handle more than 3-4 executions before they were psychologically destroyed.

And the original solution was trucks that pumped exhaust in the back. Even then, the screaming and the removal of bodies were problems for the troops.

This is why my solution to the trolley problem is to never flip the switch.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 5d (7 replies)

This should be put into context.

Suicide rates are high in any military personnel.

MushuChupacabra@piefed.world · 6 pts · 5d

Suicide rates are high in any military personnel.

But the rates are not identical across the different military organizations around the world.

Also, you can check the suicide rate among IDF personnel during any given year, and see that the suicide rate has spiked.

Whelp, that takes care of your minimization attempt.

Tiresia@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 5d (5 replies)

Do you have data from a military whose purpose wasn't to enforce the exploitation others?

pumpupthejam@piefed.social · 2 pts · 5d (2 replies)
Tiresia@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Okay, so which of those countries that have committed genocide in the past century do you think qualifies?

pumpupthejam@piefed.social · 1 pts · 4d

No idea. Personally not that interested, I was just answering your initial query. Do your own research.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 5d (1 reply)

military whose purpose wasn't to enforce the exploitation others?

Dude that seems like a definition you tailored yourself. Could you provide the list because mine will either be exactly the same or wildly different and we'll never know.

I'll go first:

Tiresia@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 5d

Of course I tailored my definition to suit the subject we are talking about, isn't that a good thing?

People are saying these soldiers may have killed themselves because of a guilty conscience, then someone says it's common among militaries as if to counter that theory, so I ask if they have an example from a military whose members shouldn't have a guilty conscience.

And hey, whaddaya know, we have the same list.

Thank you for your service

(and by service I mean the suicide part)

Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 11 pts · 5d

So, all the little corpses with their little faces, little hands and little feet with maybe a doll or a toy they were holding when the Israeli soldiers murdered them, actually gets to a tiny, tiny, trully miniscule fraction of the Israeli soldiers?!

I'm starting to think NAZI Germany had a lower fraction of sociopaths amongst their military and population.

NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io · 9 pts · 5d

If this is just plain old trauma, then good fucking riddance. If they're growing a conscience instead, then that's sad.

magnetosphere@fedia.io · 9 pts · 5d (4 replies)

If I was forced to make a choice between participating in genocide vs. suicide, I’d probably make the same decision. I feel for anyone who has been put in such a position.

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 5d

During the Vietnam war, soldiers were also put into shit situations. They ended up fragging their commanders.

Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 5d

Taking out a few of the child killers on your way out would be the best option.

Then again the people with the kind of personality to do that are not the kind whose powerless desperation rises to the point of commiting suicide.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 5d

Maybe reconsider. There are more than two options.

Maybe it's just my senior year English teacher coming out of me, but dude had the word RESIST! on his wall where you'd put a picture of definitely not a pipe.

Miaou@jlai.lu · 0 pts · 5d

Sure, you and all the other assholes in this thread. Yet history shows anyone aho dares to look that it's much easier to say than do. Armchair dilemma, how honourable of you to go down the noble path

supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz · 8 pts · 5d

Perfectly logical, I hope I would rather commit suicide than participate in a Genocide when push came to shove.

green_red_black@slrpnk.net · 8 pts · 5d

Honestly sucks they did that rather than go through the process of self reform and radicalization so they could fight for Palestine.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 6 pts · 5d

Finally good news out of Israel

Katana314@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 4d

I’m here ready to form an opinion, and then there will be a reinvestigation and it’ll turn out they have suicide notes writing “I’m so sad we’re this far behind in murdering children”.

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Am I supposed to feel sad?

We're watching tens of thousands of citizens in Gaza just get gunned in the street by the Israeli army. Civilians. Just executed in the streets. People are thrown out of their house and it's just taken.

And the news wants me to feel sad about two random soldiers, the ones who committed the war crimes, who off'd themselves?

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 5d

This is from Middle East Monitor.

I think this news is supposed to be a breath of fresh air. It's important to have feel-good stories whenever there happens to be something that's slightly good news in a genocide-torn region.

Imagine if the suicides fell for a change, that would be interesting
