i have an overpowered, well-connected dad who’s really involved in my life. been talking about my crazy family here since my first account back in February🤠
This is one of those "cute overbearing dad" things until you realize you don't have appropriate boundaries and it's influencing your life in ways you don't like, which usually happens sooner or later. Family counseling is a good place to start if you aren't sure how to start that conversation. And I say that as a dad that will probably have to be talked down when my own kid hits dating age.
Kids get hurt, it's not a parent's job to stop that from happening, nor avenge them. It's the parent's job to teach them resilient, appropriate coping techniques.
My face when I was dating the daughter of a couple who both worked for the cia 😱 were they analysts? Lawyers? Middle management? Wouldn’t say but they worked in Germany
My mom similarly background checks my partners and friends. It's pretty annoying. I try to spare as many as I can by feeding identifying details as slowly as I can.

I’m imagining a situation where I’d do that if I were the dad, to then nag to my child:

my dad is disappointed that I'm wasting my time with an “ordinary man,” but he never stands in my way if I'm happy

Is there a Violet megathread somewhere? I want to make sure I haven't missed any episodes. 🫣

Well yeah, but those are just the ones with her current account. I meant a thread that centralised the posts she's made from her old ones as well.

Okay I really start to get quite invested into your shenanigans.
Is there more context?

Personally I'm finding more questions than answers.
Not bothering to ask, just waiting to get dripfed hints to the answers through hornposts of questionable taste

Is your dad Elon Musk? He has a whole PI division for monitoring his interests.

That would be so fucking funny
Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 15 pts · 13h
Nah, as if Elon Musk could ever accept a female child.
He literally paid for every single one, to not get a daughter, and the one daughter he got, got disowned.

From a comment on one of her older threads, I believe her dad is Swiss; that would rule out phony stark

The solution for if they have a father is pretty obvious.
