Imagine being in the police and willingly carrying out this mickey mouse bullshit. No wonder nobody likes them.

Imagine using Imgur to upload to a UK sub

IndustryStandard@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 27d (3 replies)

I make sure to include an alternative video in the post body these days for all the blokes without a VPN

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 7 pts · 27d

In the body? It's a UK comm on a UK instance aimed at users in the UK. Most users are browsing from the UK, likely without a VPN. Why not do the decent thing and make the "alternative video" link the main one?

Secondly, Imgur blocks VPNs. You basically can only access it with a residential IP.

Of course non-UK users are welcome here, but at least show some consideration to the fact we cannot access the main links that you are posting. Also for the instance and comm moderators, for all they know you could be posting links to illegal content. We have no way of telling.

echodot@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 26d (1 reply)

Imger of blocks VPNs so that doesn't work either.

Really you shouldn't even be using the platform because it's become rotten

ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 26d

Uhhh, "nuh uh?" Could be your VPN, unless they recently started blocking them all. Could just be whatever server you were on at the time.

And I mean yeah it is a shitty platform lol, that's for sure.

Edit: So I can't actually load imgur itself with my VPN, but I can see content hosted there and posted elsewhere (namely here.) Odd..

avg@lemmy.zip · -6 pts · 28d (6 replies)

Surely that's not the important part of this post, is it?

crapwittyname@feddit.uk · 19 pts · 28d (2 replies)

It's important, yes. Imgur is not accessible in the UK anymore.

avg@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 28d

Well then, ironically the intended message is still preserved.

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 28d

Lmfao

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 27d

It's quite important if someone is posting something intended for UK viewers using a platform that UK viewers cannot access, even with a VPN (imgur blocks vpn access)

Psaldorn@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 28d

We'd answer but can't see what's going on because Imgur blocks UK because of our laws 👍🏻

Facism is invading europe

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 40 pts · 28d (4 replies)

Fascism is always homegrown. Fascist movements support each other globally, however.

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 28d (3 replies)

"Listen up 1940's Poland and France! The nazis didn't invade you. The fascism is always homegrown".

Da fuck?

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 28d (1 reply)

Did Italy invade Germany to spread fascism there, before Germany spread it France? Did either country invade the US to start the 1940s America First movement? Use your head. Obviously an invasion is different.

rmuk@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 27d

No, Hitler was the only one. He spread it around like a drop of ink in a puddle of water. Free countries like mine weren't affected because were Free which is like metaphorical wax paper boat against the inky puddle of fascism. When Hitler died all the fascism evaporated like, let's say, a puddle in the sun, not the puddle from before, but a new puddle because it's a different metaphor now.

... WWeeeeeeellllllllllllllll...... Heard of Vichy France?

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 28d (1 reply)

Fascism wasn't founded in some far off land and infected Europe. Fascism was created in Europe and spread to the rest of the world. This is the fruits of their labor sown long ago.

in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 26d

Fascism is European... Europe is an inherently fascist culture. Mountains are reduced to gravel, and water tables are used for coolant, the land becomes uninhabitable and in the european mind this is called "development." Capitalism, fascism, socialism, communism - regardless the whole universe and every living organism in it is open to this sort of insanity. Time to start studying 3rd world, or what europeans like to call "underdeveloped" cultures. The whole Enlightenment started from the indigenous critique of european culture by native americans, the same ideas that (almost) overthrew the monarchy. We need to consult more of THOSE cultures, and less "european continuation" -isms.

These laws and normalization of rights violations are the perfect substrate for totally-not-Hitler-2.0 to get elected and take the reigns on, preventing any checks or balances against his/her power...

Tattorack@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 27d (5 replies)

Well, at least they calmly explained their oppression and didn't immediately just put five bullets in the guy unlike a certain country.

Not quite V for Vendetta yet, UK, but keep it up! You're getting there!

I get that the British have had weaponized sarcasm for a while now, but from just that brief clip, I didn't see anything to justify an arrest

Bakkoda@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 26d

What needs to happen is that all the people need to restrain the police. Gently. Not gently. I don't care. They are a fraction of the population and they need to be scared.
